I have heard that there is a missing sheep hunter in the Wrangells. He supposedly called his wife after he had taken a very large trophy ram.
He had told his wife that it was going to be tricky to get down to the sheep. He is now five days overdue. Let's hope he is ok and just lost.
The key thing is no trophy is worth your life. Good luck to everybody,

x2 on the prayer. His wife has got to be a mess right now not knowing anything.
Keep us posted on this Kaboku68.
I assume he was a resident hunting without a guide as only one person mentioned?

Please keep us updated if you can. It's a scary reality of hunting. Another prayer for him and his family.

Good reason to own a PLB, even for the lower 48. Just got an ARC 2880 now my wife will sleep better when I'm gone. The GPS store had a good deal and there is a $50 rebate too.

Is this a word out mouth type deal or has there been an official ruling that someone is missing? 4-6 days overdue would have hit the papers by now, I would think?

That is what I was thinking as well. However, this is AK and the media is typically clueless... So.. who knows? Sure hope all is well.

I'm not sure who specifically you are making reference to, however if it is the missing sheep hunter from the Chitna are he has been found. He was pulled out by the troopers search and rescue team and all is well. I spoke to him today. Again not sure if we are talking about the same guy but it sounds like his story. Just stumbled on the thread and thought I would share.

See the above. this is a follow up I found in another area.
