Missing hunters in Colorado

A lot of talk here of the gear in the car, possible foul play when returning to the car etc. Where are the bows? That’s the biggest question. If the bows are not in or near the car, then no, they did not come back, no interrupted theft etc etc. I have not seen any mention of the bows from any source. Only ‘gear’ in the car.
If it was foul play @ the car then the bows could’ve been discarded with the bodies?

I can't remember whether it was Facebook or Reddit, but one of the people posting updates did say at one point that they believed they left the car with their bows to go pursue some elk they had seen earlier.
Right. I agree it looks like they had come back at some point. But if the bows are not there, no they did not come back to meet trouble at the car. Takes away all of the foul play speculation and really reinforces the bad weather with a lack of equipment angle. A lightning strike seemed plausible at first, however that would likely result in their being down in a more open area and would have been spotted by now by an air crew.

Possibly. But that doesn’t really wash with the rest of the stuff being left behind.

If we're talking about foul play we're basically talking about them getting shot at or near their vehicle. If two young, fit dudes with bows walked up on someone trying to rob their vehicle it's going to be a fist fight possibly turning into someone drawing a weapon. I don't think the type of dudes robbing vehicles at trail heads would be adept enough to cover up a double murder to the degree that the next people to arrive at the scene suspected absolutely nothing. The only time foul play has been brought up is by people speculating on the internet. No sources close to the search have even mentioned it.

It's crazy too me that people think they are SO RIGHT they just say , almost matter of fact, that it was foul play. Thank you for this, maybe someone will read it and keep their dumb opinions too themselves. Also, sitting around suggesting foul play on a internet forum probably won't help them get found...........

Agreed. Heard a bugle from the truck, grabbed their bows and made a move to be lite and fast. Been there.
This.
I just listened to a Exo podcast were the guy jumped out of his tent while sleeping grabbed his rifle and went after caribou his buddy spoted while pissing. No contacts in,No boots on or anything.
It’s a little different but sometimes you want to roll fast and stealth and loose your judgement.

Most tracking dogs pickup on human blood.

Right! The only people to even suggest foul play is internet commentary. I believe the fiencee confirmed they last communicated that they found a herd and going back to vehicle. Trujillo Meadows, up to that trailhead, is a very popular area. It probably has 30+ camps this time of year. It's no secret secuded spot.

All this speculation...

Some basic questions, were they set up for spike camping? They could just be out there somewhere oblivious to what is going on.

Were they running light weight for a day hunt? Weather may have moved in and caught them off guard.

Were they relying on GPS/smart phone? Could have lost their device or batteries died and they got turned around.

Maybe a combination of some or all of these?

These are generally the simplest answers. Yes there are loonies out there but the odds of that are far far less than any other explanation.

This is day 6 of no contact, their last GPS ping was at the vehicle before heading back out, and yesterday there were 50+ people scouting the area and yelling for them on foot, horseback, ATV, dogs, and with drones and other air support. I think we are past them just being out on a hunt and oblivious that people are worried. It is very likely that weather moved in and caught them off guard, but pretty unlikely at this point that they're just hunting hard and good at hiding. Today was supposed to be the last day of their hunt so maybe they surprise everyone and come stomping back to the trailhead, but unfortunately I don't think that will be the case.
