Mini emrII

I think a 3000 ci main bag with wing pockets just big enough to fit the larger spotters would be sweet. Also slots at the hinge point so you could run the compression straps under the wings if you wanted to so access to the wing pockets would be easier/quicker and you wouldn't have to put a ton of pressure on whatever is in the wings to compress a heavy/bulky load in the middle/main bag.

Nomad........

Just can't beat the omni suspension for every day applications, along with as a day pack hunting, fishing and ul backpacking. Flexible, simple, and I can take the belt off if I'm taking it somewhere other than the woods. I have a bikini, and it's an awesome suspension, good for almost everything, but it still doesn't beat the omni I had on my spike camp legacy when it came to weekenders, fishing and day hunting where carrying a load was almost out of the question.

And look at the hype the kifaru mid size military packs are getting, you would think a good redesign in the hunting line for a non framed small pack would make a killing.

I think they would sell a bunch of those for sure along with the "mini EMRII". I have a Bikini/Nomad and two T1's and I still want a Duplex frame and a couple more bags. Not really sure why though, since the T1 really does everything I need. Damn you and your new packs Aron!

kinda funny though. got it right with that first one (T1) but as long as guys are willing to buy the next best thing, might as well keep making it and selling it to them. that being said ill likely end up with a EMRII on a duplex one of these days. and every time i leave it in my closet while heading out the door with my T1 ill think to myself "damn you and your new packs Aron!"

Oh and if they could make the pack I imagined up around 3.5 lbs as well it would be awesome.

On a side not, first the timberline series, then the high camp, now the emr and nomad. What will it be next year. Though I have fought off the urges to buy an emrii, I think.

Has anyone mounted together a MR Longbow/Nomad combo ? (although probably no real world difference vs camp bag or emr2 for that matter, rolled to your desire volume).

I started with a t2 and now have a duplex T1. You could not get me back into the standard timberline packs.

Interesting thread.
I'd love to see the EMRII streamlined a bit, to more of a bastid child of the EMR and a 4800 HighCamp

Keep the same dimensions of the HC 4800ci main bag, to build off of.
Ditch the lower access horizontal zipper, in favor of a full length vertical front zipper, ala EMRII.

Keep the Pals webbing inside the bag, and keep common loops for hanging bladder & small pocket at top.

Add zippered wing pockets on both sides of bag, same as the EMRII, but skip the slide in pockets. (basically, long pockets sewn into sides of the HC bag)

Ditch the fixed, clip style compression straps of the EMRII

Keep the K-hook loop attachments of the HC bag, and add the same type loops where the permanent HC k-hook straps are sewn into the bag.
IE, make the existing permanent K-hook straps of the HC bag, removable. By adding loops where the straps were sewn in on the HC bag, the end user can add/remove straps as needed.

Include 6 k-hook straps to work off these loops, for compression, securing gear underneath the bag, securing the lid, etc. (Don't like too many clips & straps danglin' everywhere. I'd rather have the modular ability to add/remove them, as needed)

Just thinkin' out louc!

What would be the purpose of keeping the side pouches batwing style if there are no inner pockets?

I guess I mis-typed.
I was thinking more of like having long, zip pockets, situated on both sides of the main bag.

The Duplex T-series has zip pockets on the back, but those obviously wouldn't work with a vertical zip main bag. Instead, add long zip pockets to the sides of the main bag that could slip in a spotter, tripod, daypack gear etc. Or, slide in pockets, without a zip at all. Maybe with a storm flap? But not both, as are in the full batwing packs...

Don't want to take away the capability of the main bag, just want to add some extra modularity to it with balanced side zip pockets. By cutting to the chase and incorporating it into the bag, you'd save the weight of extra material/attachments of hanging pockets...after the fact.

EDIT: I have a HC 4800 now and 7K Highcamp on the way & don't mind putting everything in the main bag. But I still hang two med pockets off the Bikini to keep stuff readily accessible. So, was just thinkin' of how I'd modify the main bag to incorporate the volume of those extra pockets into the bag itself...

Then, the main bag could be full compressed in daycamp mode, and you'd still have access to whatever ya need for the day, balanced out between the two side pockets.

Sounds like op wants mmr ii or kifaru version of exo 3500. I'd like to see urban zing with tall side pockets
