Single-Shot Rifle for Ultralight Setup

Oh those are interesting. If the grip is an AR grip, you could replace that, and since it's a standard buffer tube, you could use the same stuff as the guys over on the ULUL thread. Just the fore grip would need something.... better.

It will not be an ar grip, looks just like the v2 grip

Revitalizing this a bit. But I did build this and I love it. 6 pounds 6 ounces with optic and can.
I copied you on this. Will grab a picture later. Contender 223. It has a 1:12 twist barrel, but it shoots a 60 grain v max really great with the prism reticle out to 600.

They're not lighter than a bolt gun, but they are shorter, which can be really nice.

I don't think the market exists for it, but if they made a titanium receiver and all carbon parts, you could probably get down near 4lbs bare rifle. But no one makes any of that.
If I went with the smoke composites stock and the sharps bros fore-end I’d be around 5.5 pounds with can. So even with steel receiver you can get pretty light. But the length width and depth of the package is what makes it worthwhile more so than the weight. The short package has low torque so adjusting to build a good position one handed is so much easier.

I had a stainless Contender Carbine with barrels in .22 LR, .22 Hornet, .223 Remington, and 7-30 Waters.

That thing weighed something like 5.5 pounds, sans scope and mount.

Using the .223 barrel, I filled 22 consecutive California A-Zone tags with it. The downside was that being so light, it was difficult for me to shoot accurately in the field.

If I had t have something light in a single shot, I'd be looking for another one.

I mostly hunt out of a climber/saddle and really like the short overall length of single shots too.
