I'm looking to get a system that can get me through 30-40 degree weather with minimal layers. I run pretty cold so I usually have to use several layers. For reference, in 50°F I usually run my Kuiu Kenai over a Peloton 240 and for the bottoms I would use my first lite Kiln bottoms under my Kuiu Pro pants. When the temperatures start to drop into the lower 40s and 30s I will start to get cold in this setup, especially when the wind picks up. I would like to get something that's going to be wind proof (or at least close to it), easy to move in, quite, and obviously warm. So far I'm looking at code of silence zone 7, kuiu proximity, Cabela's stand hunter, Pnuma's fleeced outerwear, or any other recommendations. I've eliminated First Lite and Sitka because I feel like their prices are too high compared to the other options on the market. Obviously I know this comes down to personal preference, but I would appreciate any input on the mentioned systems or any recommendations.

Ive heard that the Kuiu Proximity fits tight in the forearms and the outer layer is very fragile making it a poor piece to wear walking through the whitetail woods.

Im in the same boat as you and am interested in the Code of Silence. They seem to be directly comparable to Sitka Stratus and Fanatic. Hopefully someone chimes in with personal experience.

Good to know about the proximity! I really like that Code of Silence uses wool in all of their pieces. Maybe it would be more durable than the Kuiu.

Found a Kuiu Proximity Jacket on the classifieds for a good price in my size and in the ash color. I just received it today.

Here are my initial thoughts:

-The fit is excellent. I wear XL or XLT in everything and the XL fits me like a glove with just enough room for a few layers underneath and the jacket covers my waist.
-The pocket layout is simple and effective. Two large chest pockets. Could fit all sorts of stuff in them. Two hand pockets lower down which are what I would consider standard sized. The jacket also has two internal pockets where you could stash things.
-The material is ultra quiet, its kind of like a micro fleece.
-Its very comfortable. It reminds of wearing a patagonia fleece jacket. Very cozy
-It doesnt seem to be super durable but I also dont need it to be. Im just planning to throw it on once I get to the tree.
-Its fairly warm. I think with a merino long sleeve and a thick grid fleece I could take this down into the 20s/ 30s.
-No thoughts on wind resistance because I havent worn it outside yet (this will be a major factor in the last bullet)
-The hood is detachable by way of a small zipper. I appreciate this option, time will tell if I keep the hood on or remove it.
-The sleeve cuffs have a spandex type material that presumably will lock in warmth and help hold the sleeve in place. - I am a bit concerned that may mess with my layers b/c I have long arms (36-37”)

If youre interested I can update with more info after I get some use out of it.

Thanks a million! Please do give updates. I actually just won a $100 gift card for kuiu yesterday. Pretty crazy, so I'm really considering getting the jacket.

Will do.

A couple things I noticed after writing my original post..
The hood has a pull cord/ cinch on the back and has a good shape overall keeping it out of your face and peripheral vision.
The bottom of the jacket also has the pull cord/ cinch for keeping warmth in.
Can't overstate how comfortable the jacket is. I sat inside my house with it on for over an hour because I didn't want to take it off haha.

Very interested to see how it does in the wind.
