Merino safe soaps?

What soaps are safe and recommended for merino? I have some nikwax, but contemplating buying some merino socks for work and the nikwax stuff is just expensive.
Am I stuck paying for it or are there ither alternatives?

I've used regular washing powders with no issues.

Woolite. Woolite Dark if you don't want them to fade (socks fading don't matter much).

I use atsko on all my outdoor gear. Works great. Cheap in the big jug off Amazon.

I prefer the McNett wool wash in general, but Woolite is cheap.

i have never used anything other than what the wife buys. I should rephrase, my wife doesn't use special soap when washing merino wool.

i'm like Travis..regular detergent.

except i do my laundry. i kinda think that's merino wools superpower. the amount of laundry abuse it takes. i dry mine too.

Just got an email from first lite about caring for your merino. Just says to use regular old non abrasive non bleach detergent
