Meopta Meopr 10x42 HD

Has anyone had much experience with these? I read earlier that these are the same glass as the Meostars are.

I have the 8's and have been using them for over a year now. Meopta confirmed it is the same glass, but that's it. So there is a difference in view. I like the ergonomics better than the Meostar. I compared them side by side to the non-hd 8x42 Meostar and thought the Meopro hd's were noticeably better. The Meostar hd 10x42 to me are a bit better, but have never done a side by side and I like 8x. Before I bought the Meopro I did compare them to the razor hd and conquest hd and thought they were similar. I chose the Meopro because they are built well, have a great view and saved $250ish. FYI the Cabelas Euro's (Meostar) are $999 right now

I have the 10x42 meostars and am in LOVE. I Compared side by side in the field for a couple days with maven, vortex razors, zeiss conquest and i choose the Meostars. They are rather heavy but by god they really perform well in all light conditions. I dont mind the weight with my chest harness. The Zeiss conquest is no slouch either for the price point.

It looks like the glass is the same, but there might be a difference in the coatings. On the website it lists the Meobright and Meoshield coatings for the Meostars, and the Meopros only list the Meobright coatings. It also looks like the Meopro is assembled in the USA? Sales excluded- it looks like there is a $300-400 price difference between the 2 online. I'm very curious what that cost difference is based on.

Based on the looks of the design of the Meopros I think I would prefer them personally over the Meostars if they were the same as the Meostars optically. The looks remind me of a razor, when I have compared Razor, SLC, and Conquest side by side I prefered the feel of the Razor in my hands. To me SLC was the top optically, followed by Conquest, then Razor.

The Meopro's are assembled in the US which was a plus for me. Also they aren't as "robust" or overbuilt like the Meostar's. I think that is where some of the extra cost comes from. I am with you nick I prefer the Meopro design. The Meostar HD's do IMO give a better view. This could be from a better prism design or possibly extra coating? But not better enough to justify the extra cost..

In my bino test last summer, the Meopro HDs were the least expensive binocular I reviewed and left a very favorable impression. The build quality was second to none, and the ergonomics and image were very similar (I hate to say exactly the same) as the Vortex Razor HDs. I ranked Meopros ahead of the Maven B1 and the Vortex Razor, but behind the Swaro SLCs and Maven B2. If you can't reach Swaro and can't deal with the larger size of the Maven B2s, these are an excellent option.

I have a pair of the MeoPro HD 10x42 and I like them quite a bit. Prior to getting them I was using Vortex Viper non-HDs so it was a pretty good jump up for me.

Just FYI, I picked up mine used from someone for $450. I'm sure if you look around you should be able to find them for a good price.

The Meopro 8x42's were just in the bargin cave for like $488. I haven't seen used razors close to that

I like them a lot. I friend how uses razor Hds took them for a week to compare them and he gave them the thumbs up as well.
