Yep, agreed...I do think we hear more about the successes than the failures. I know a guy that lost 2 bulls last year [really good guy, saw one shot myself]...and i know he isn't blabbing all over town about those....

A friend is an outfitter in NM and a bowhunter himself. He has been on hundreds of archery elk hits. The result of all that experience is he has banned mechanicals. The trouble is the 90% who succeeded with expandables answer these threads positively. You can kill an elk with a field point with the correct placement. It is the non-optimum hits that are a concern and where you want bone breaking deep penetrating performance. Why risk it. There are many stout fixed blades out there.
