Not through it all the way yet but so far one of the more interesting podcasts as of late.

The wife and I are Tucker fans… I knew he fished and I was literally just thinking I’d love to see a Rinella/Tucker interview. I don’t agree with Tucker on everything but I was hoping Tucker had a fairly deep understanding of conservation and it turns out he does.

I’m also loving all the liberal tears on the Meateater Instagram...

Rinella interviews plenty of people on the left and I don’t ever remember wailing or gnashing of teeth to this level. 🤷‍♂️

Rinella as usual did a great job staying a-political despite Tucker being a highly political figure. That said I think him doing the interview in the first place dispels the rumor that somehow he is some closet leftist. I’ve never gotten that vibe despite being a regular listener, but I know that accusation flies around regularly probably because he does a good job avoiding being partisan.

Not surprisingly, it appears MeatEater is going to do whatever it can to get the clicks, get the views, drive the engagement, positive or not.

Imagine a business owner wanting to be successful and increase his profits. Perhaps he needs to check his white male privilege ?

You mean as a media company they are going to interview interesting people? People from all across the political spectrum with a high degree of influence who partake in hunting and fishing? I’m shocked!!

I wonder if you thought the same thing when they interviewed Tom Brokaw or that Jackass founder of Patagonia?

I listened to it. I disagree with what Carlson says on his show about 75% of the time, and I generally find his tactics to divide Americans through questionable presentation of "facts" to be gross.

But on the podcast I agreed with most of what he said and realized he is a genuine outdoorsman, so I gained respect for him. He did seem arrogant, especially in the trivia section, but it's probably just confidence gained from a successful career, so I give that a pass.

Guys, I put "not surprisingly."

I'll have to admit I was taken off guard by how financially motivated Rinella appears to be. I used to believe he cared about some things much more than money. I was wrong.
You mean a guy with a business cares about money? I’m shocked.

Again why is interviewing Tucker so terrible in your mind?

I didn’t think his interview with Tom Brokaw was some horrible thing, or Yvon Chouinard for that matter. I disagree with them immensely, however I still found their perspectives interesting. Nor did my viewpoint of Meateater or Rinella diminish because he decided to give them airtime either.

There is more to life than partisan politics. That can be said for people on both sides…

Rinella is no stranger to polarizing guests, so why is it only bad in your mind when they hold right wing viewpoints rather than left wing viewpoints?

Nice, move the goalposts. Classic.

It was clearly inferred it was bad because it was “just to get clicks.”

You inferred it, I did not imply it.

Really this is just a data point supporting a longer trend. That was my point. The podcast isn't near the quality it was pre-buyout. They have shifted to a new target audience.
