Maybe not. I just get tired of the criticism of every single hunting podcast/personality for “trying to get clicks.”

That’s like, their entire business model… So no shit they are trying to get clicks.

Does the increasing amount of advertising on the podcast since they have become successful get old? Sure.

But for the most part I listen because I enjoy the guests and Rinella’s interview style. Guess what? Tucker was a really interesting guest. It doesn’t have to be more complicated or insidious than that.

Overall, Meateater has been a net positive for conservation as well as the public perception of hunting and fishing, and to top it off I’ve been entertained by their content.

I wish I was surprised that fact would make guys on an Internet forum about hunting butthurt.

A-freaking-men.

I liked the FOC and Tucker episodes - although I wish the latter ran longer. I am headed to the ME IG to see what the crying is all about.

Wow. I could only spend a few minutes on those comments. The “Tucker has blood on his hands” theme was pretty out there.

I listened to it. I disagree with what Carlson says on his show about 75% of the time, and I generally find his tactics to divide Americans through questionable presentation of "facts" to be gross.

But on the podcast I agreed with most of what he said and realized he is a genuine outdoorsman, so I gained respect for him. He did seem arrogant, especially in the trivia section, but it's probably just confidence gained from a successful career, so I give that a pass.
You inferred it, I did not imply it.

Really this is just a data point supporting a longer trend. That was my point. The podcast isn't near the quality it was pre-buyout. They have shifted to a new target audience.
a more soy based audience? Tucker has been there and has done it before you were born or social media taught others the correct way to hunt and fish.

I just laugh when the progressive soy boyz on here get in a tizzy when they ask if they can still take a deer or elk without sitka, Charles post, newburg endorsed gear, a 6.5 prc, a ev non carbon neutral mode of transportation,

Man... How sensitive you guys are. Y'all need to toughen up.

The author of that article has been an outdoor and hunting writer for a long time and is from Wisconsin, which has a higher black percentage of black folks than most western hunting states. That issue just may be in the front of his mind and there's no reason to believe Rinella or chernin group asked him to write that piece.

It in no way implies being white is bad or that the majority of the hunting population being white is bad. It's simply looking at statistics and surveys to question why the majority of hunters are white and what the future may hold.

Some people enjoy sharing their passion with people from other cultures and races. With some states' hunter numbers going down overall, I'd say we need all the hunter we can get in those areas. It would be especially helpful if a larger population of minorities were into hunting because it would help to ensure that our hunting heritage continues into the future by having a voice from all different types of people in the voting population.

I'd personally love to get out hunting with some of the black kids I grew up with. I played tons of sports with them, but they thought hunting was a weird white guy's thing. I think we'd have had a great time hunting together.
There is a distinct different between sharing your culture and experience with others and declaring an activity is too white.

At the end of the day diversity and inclusiveness is anti white. No other race is subject to this. Go ahead and find the articles meat eater or really anyone has published declaring activities that are too black or too jewish regardless of the truth of the matter. You wont find them save for reinforcements of white guilt narratives.

The whole "toughen up" bit falls extremely flat when one considers the effect this maladaptive white savior/guilt ideology has had on all European nations.

How about the nation of European americans in this country sacks up and says no this is our culture and its moral for it to be super majority white.

Did you just need to get a word in, even if most of it was nonsensical? I was floating down a black water coastal river hunting squirrels in the south while Tucker was wearing short pants in SoCal, so no he hasn’t been doing it before I was born.

If you're a Vet, sign up for a free subscription to FOXNATION. Then watch Tuckers shows on Crime, Immigration, MS 13, AR-15's etc.
Very enlightening. Should be mandatory viewing.

Please, tell me more about how oppressed you are. This took 2 seconds to find with a quick google search.

Not surprisingly, it appears MeatEater is going to do whatever it can to get the clicks, get the views, drive the engagement, positive or not.

Was it not your intention to "get the clicks, get the views, drive the engagement, positive or not" when making this and other posts on the internet or were you hoping that no one would read it?

My posting (and contributing) here is not financially motivated. You can tell because I do it for free. :)

I imagine some of us here wear steel-toed boots to work because our employers require it. Some of us wear hard hats, some safety glasses. Some have get the vax to remain employed. Some of us have to maintain professional licenses to remain employed.
The fact is: in order to feed our families, most of us have to make concessions and follow rules in the work place, whether we like them or not.
Everybody has a boss, even generals.
I think Steve is one of the most objective personalities on public media... and one of the most intelligent and entertaining. He has done a lot more to put outdoorsmen in a positive light than the majority of us. I applaud him and the Meateater crew for their efforts, and for providing educational and entertaining podcasts and programming.

There was just a bill proposed that would effectively end all imports of animals into the states. Even meat or hides from non-CITES animals. Yes, even your deer from Canada, tahr from New Zealand etc.

Hunters might be gaining in favorability among some non-hunters due to the meateater effect, but they don’t seem to be gaining in the all-important political realm because many of the same people these new, food-focused hunters are voting for are the ones proposing the bullshit legislation. Just look at the Instagram comments on Tucker Carlson. A huge number of meateater followers are very likely ambivalent to the traveling hunter, especially in africa because they would see it as some form of neo-colonialism.

it turns out the enemy of our enemy is NOT our friend.

So you object to all those that provide content for a fee. Ok, that's cool.

I've been told that my free contributions to the internet are priced appropriately.

Of course not, you're extrapolating from a point I haven't even asserted.

I'm finding that those who are poor at arguing put words into others' mouths so that they can argue with them more effectively.

I listened. I think Carlson kept it on the rails for the most part and stayed away from politics, mostly. Was totally unaware that he was an outdoorsman.

I appreciate that Rinella is willing to speak to people all over the idealogical / political spectrum as long as hunting / fishing / outdoors is the primary focus of the discussion.
