Just so I understand, are the people who are offended by Tucker Carlson being on the show the same people that were pissed when Rinella sold out to the liberal, gun hating private equity firm or is this a different group of people that are grumpy now? Thanks

No youre out making false equivalencies and reinforcing woke garbage.
The muh oppressed snowflake bit is the right wing back stop to prevent white folks for advocating for themselves the same as every other group does. Its old hat and again falls flat when one considers the effect that ideology and the lack of proper counter ideology has wrought on western nations.
Hey, you were the one complaining about it, so I don’t know if I’d be throwing that snowflake term around. You know, people in glass houses…

Stop making yourself out to be the victim. You’re not. Have a lovely day.

Listen I appreciate his perspective but a free thinker? I think not, he gets paid by FOX News for crying out loud. Free thinkers do not exist in mainstream media. We all need to realize it before we’re all screwed. And for the record I agree with most things he says but I know who writes his paychecks and I am not a sheep. Some times when everyone else listens to and says the same stuff from the same source it doesn’t matter if it’s CNN or FOX.

Bet your ass I like him and appreciate that he’s an outdoorsman.

We need free objective news and a third party to save our country how the hell do we make it happen?
Tucker calls out both sides (granted the left more), has people like Jimmy Dore and others on his show that he doesn't agree with and finds common ground. In the spectrum of political dirtbags he's better than 99% of the mainstream media.

He's called out big hedge funds (cabelas story) gone on record against the pebble mine, acknowledges climate change, etc..

In comparison to Hannity or Maddow he's a ******* saint.

He's the last person in corporate media I'll watch on occasion..

Good episode IMHO. He talked about fishing, guns and other interesting stuff. It was way less political than many other of the episodes. If you don't like it, turn it off. I have turned off a handful of the lefty episodes....specifically Mr. Patagonia.

If you honestly believe, with all your conviction that he is speaking from his heart and not listening to the 10 producers and 20 executives behind his show. Not to mention the FOX news machine….
No, I'm not that Naive. I believe he's doing a combination of both. I believe the producers, executives, and Fox machine are mainly concerned about making money, like the other liberal shows. What Tucker is saying is much more genuine than phoney. Tucker is resonating with many Conservatives and bringing in money for Fox. Once that stops he's gone.

I think he does to a bigger extent than most. He spoke about it a little bit on the podcast, remember he's not in New York or the main studios, and with his popularity he's got a lot more leeway.

He's been conservative since at least his msnbc days.

Understood. I'll try to boil it down succinctly.

Rinella used to be really good. I felt his perspective was fresh, unique, that he was sincere, modest, and true to himself and his beliefs. It didn't matter then if what he did earned him notoriety or not. He was what he was, take it or leave it. I felt he was trustworthy. There's a nobility in the starving artist that I respect. It demonstrates a belief and commitment in one's core tenants. Conversely, I'll admit I do lots of things I believe to be silly or a waste of time because my employer pays me to. That's where Rinella is now.

Now he's gotta maximize the profits, his own values or beliefs be damned. I can't tell what he believes or doesn't believe. He is not sincere. He's a mouthpiece. He's not a transformational leader or an innovator, he's a salesman. Simple as that. And to be clear I'm not really criticizing him, just stating that it makes me sad and disappointed. It's certainly possible Steve was thinking of his kids and his colleagues and their families when he signed on the dotted line. If you go back and search my posts you'll see I was supportive of the move and proud of Steve at the time. It's just that now I see I was wrong.
Case in point - today on the Meateater IG account they are advertising 5 employment opportunities:
  • Accountant to update and analyze "the General Ledger to reflect the Company’s financial performance."
  • Accountant to "complete payments and control expenses by receiving payments,"
  • Consumer Experience Design Lead to "take a lead role in modeling our audience to customer journey and designing our experiences for web, mobile, email and other digital touchpoints."
  • Video Editor to tackle "everything from short form documentary style pieces to long form narrative content to comedic social media videos for the MeatEater brand (emphasis mine) and its network of thought-leading outdoor influencers, channels and accounts."
  • Digital Marketing Manager "to help us continue the rapid growth and expansion of our digital marketing campaigns."
Don't misunderstand, I am not opposed to anyone making a profit (jealous maybe). But I'm not naive enough to not realize that's what this has become.

Right.

for the curious (like me) who have been watching the career section in the site grow, the strategic partnerships flourish, the investments etc. it’s been clear for a long time.

this morning I flipped through my first editions of Steve’s good books; scavengers, Buffalo and to a lesser extent Meateater… man do I miss those days and that approach.

Agreed, and if he's listening to his Fox "masters" for content, then they aren't very consistent. Tucker has in the past gone off on Lindsey Graham, only to be followed by Hannity who has Graham on as a guest (and to whom he sucked up). (I had to stop watching Hannity when his opening monologue seemed to get longer each night, with seemingly every version mentioning "Bleach Bit" and "hammer" and much of what he had said 24 hours before.)

I don't believe everything I read on the internet or see on TV (Fox or otherwise0, but even when I disagree with Tucker, he differs from many in that he tends to describe a method/approach of analyzing issues. As opposed to those who just provide their conclusions without any support or way to see how they got there.

I find Steve to seem way more sincere than most other hunting personalities. I was a bit disappointed to hear a mtn ops read though on the last one I listened to

Imagine a business owner wanting to be successful and increase his profits. Perhaps he needs to check his white male privilege ?

Did you just assume the business owner's gender?! And for Christ's sake, use the individual's preferred pronouns! Lastly, that person identifies as non-Caucasian, FYI.

also loving all the liberal tears on the Meateater Instagram...

Rinella interviews plenty of people on the left and I don’t ever remember wailing or gnashing of teeth to this level. 🤷‍♂️
Let me guess.. if you click on any of those profiles they all have a photo of themselves wearing a "Public Land Owner" tshirt on?

I listened to the episode and thought it pretty good.

I wonder how much of what Carlson said on this episode is sincere and how much he says on his own show is sincere. He seemed on Steve's show like a nice guy that would be fun to talk to/hang out with. But... He has a total snake personality and seems he'd be a great manipulator of people.

That's my take on him. I don't watch any news
