Flipping thru podcasts today while driving around looking for turkeys, I heard a meateater podcast host mention they had spent the previous day shooting a video where they drop-tested a scope to see if it would hold zero. Couldnt find the video though, not sure if thats b/c its not published yet, or if Im just youtube challenged. Anyone see this?

Also heard that and went looking for the video and came up with nothing. Based on the conversation I remember thinking it would feature Clay Newcomb, Brent Reaves, and Janis. I think they were talking about a Sig rifle (has to be a Cross of some flavor) and a Vortex scope? I'm curious to see what they did but I don't know if I'd base any purchase decisions on it.

I suspect that at least Dr. Randall and Jordan Sillars may be closet Rokslide users based on comments they've made in various MeatEater media.

Seems like that crew usually uses Razor LHT's. I wish Vortex would care to make the LHT's solid and dependable. One of my favorites but I'm selling all mine as wondering zero's are unacceptable.

What comments are you thinking of?

Probably failed miserably and assuming if Vortex is a sponsor they scrapped that video?

This would be my guess. But I also don't know how much Janis uses Vortex. I have seen multiple episodes where they're glassing with Swaro. Riflescopes are a different story though no doubt.

Certainly appears to me it could be more or less anything. I dont particularly care what it is, just thought it was interesting they were doing something like that in the first place. Im more interested in what they did, than I am in what they did it to.
I imagine there is normally some time between taking raw video, and when it actually gets published.

Could be a 7mm-08. I haven't looked at many of those chassis for scale but kinda looks like a short action mag to me.

Listened to that one recently, Radio Live episode with Brent, Clay and Mark. Sounded like it was very "Rokslide Drop Test" influenced.

Also mentioned it took a lot to knock the Sig scope off zero, so I'm skeptical.

It fared surprisingly well, although it wasnt clear to me how well zeroed it was to start with the zero group being well Right of the target dot…maybe poa was not the dot? Makes it harder to say whats a shift and what isnt. I also noted that none of their drops were side impacts, except the fall with the pack. All of the drops landed on top. My understanding has been that side impacts are by far the most likely to throw a scope off zero. And no discussion of mounting, which may be equally or even more important. Regardless, I think most folks who are shooting at standard distances would be very happy if their scope/rings/rifle held zero that well.
