Considering that Weatherby just jumped in whole hog with BHA (check social media for the snow goose hunts, etc., and a bunch of BHAers all touting Weatherby), the picture becomes far more clear. As does that Missoula connection.

I still dont understand the picture youre talking about. Or the Missoula connection or ties to Missoula. What is the BHA “actually” you are referring to?

Hmmmm. I made it through the first 30 mins or so this Am. I wasn’t let down.

Seems like he isn’t a rifleman so to speak and isn’t well versed in the ins and outs of various cartridges. Not that unusual IMO. I know a few guys that have stacked up animals over the years but just aren’t really that into guns or gun stuff. They use what they use and don’t bother to learn anything beyond that.

For that matter, i know a few real deal GI Joe SOF type military guys that are the same way. Some of them never probably shot a bullet that Uncle Sam didn’t provide and couldn’t tell you what “ai” stood for but you sure as hell wouldn’t want to get in a gunfight with them.

I just figured the messiah of the current "let's be attractive to the masses" micro-brew-pint-night revolution hunting movement would know what fire forming is and that 7.62 = .308 and .264 = 6.5mm. Weird I know.

Idealization has its pitfalls.

I bow hunt (big game, small game) and I bird hunt (duck, goose, turkey, quail). I don't shoot archery, but I practice, and I don't shoot trap or clays, but I'm not against it. I couldn't tell you the first thing about re-loading, dram weight, cam lean, timing, etc. I bought a shotgun from a guy because it was a good deal, and after 25 years I wanted to try an autoloader. If the shot gun didn't "fit" me right it wouldn't have mattered. I bought it to shoot it. I do fine with it.

I'm trying my best to work more on my own archery gear. Not because I love to do it but because I hate having my stuff sitting at the shop and not know how to fix it. Hopefully I'll get better at bow building but I'd never think less of someone if they didn't know about ballistics. That's like saying a carpenter is no good because he doesn't have intimate knowledge about his tools.

I'm a believer that shall not be infringed means exactly that. The NRA of today is just a money-gathering, fear-mongering organization that is quick to bend to popular opinion instead of actually defending gun rights. They'll sell gun owners down the river in a heartbeat if they can profit from it. They will have to completely purge their leadership before I would join again.

Look, politics makes me feel dirty. I'm just tired of feeling like some "A hole" politician is always trying to chip away at the things that I hold dear. I just want married, transsexual pot farmers to be able to defend their crops with suppressed, select-fire rifles while worshiping the deity of their choice. In short, I want a small government that leaves me (and everyone else) the "F" ALONE.

That and I want to draw some good tags this year.
That's why I support Gun Owners of America

Funny how you love calling everyone "meateater groupies," "liberal meatbeater fans " and "messiah of the current "let's be attractive to the masses" micro-brew-pint-night revolution hunting movement" but you had already listened to his entire podcast on the morning it came out? Are you sure your not the groupie?

You guys are interchanging the words leftists and liberals.

Leftist will not debate you with ideas.. whereas liberals will acknowledge that you are a rational person with a fully functional set of values... but that just happen to be different from there own.
Someone watched Owen Benjamin's video on Prager U?

Well the truth is I didn't listen (and still haven't) to the entire thing. I do look to see what the weekly agenda is, and since there was a recent post (as in this one) concerning this very topic, I thought I would listen. I had about 50mins of cardio time to kill. I quickly came to my senses and found something actually interesting, educational, and entertaining to listen to. You'll be pleased to know I haven't listened to much of their recent productions. I find many of their staff off putting.

Also I'm not disparaging anyone for not knowing anything about "ballistics" or what could be considered very basic knowledge (although I think it would be a good to know such info). What I am saying is be careful idolizing people, because in reality they are just like you....a normal person. Just my stupid opinion.

That's all. I apologize for the humor.

Nope?

Never heard of the guy.. he good value??

I would say no. He is a comedian, that can be funny when he isnt ranting about people picking on him or a certain group of people running the world. But the last I saw of him he appeared to be going through a manic episode.

Yeah, he’s become pretty insufferable lately. His Prager U video isn’t bad though.

Look, if the 2a is not particularly high on someone's list of priorities, just come on out and say it. I can respect that...I think it's misguided, but I can respect it. For the record, I'm certainly no fan of the Republican party, in fact, I find politics in general completely disgusting. I think it's sad that as a voter I have to choose between my love and support of public lands and my staunch support of the 2a simply because the broken two-party system in this country dictates it...but we all have our priorities.

What I can't respect, is people pissing on my head and then telling me that it's raining. Democrats are not pro 2a. When a democrat says they are pro 2a, it is typically followed by "I respect the rights of sportsmen to hunt...BUT...blah blah blah common sense gun control, blah blah blah". If that resonates with a guy fine, but I expect them to own it.
I agree. The 2A amendment should not even be discussion. "Shall not be infringed." There should be no such thing as a federal gun law. Period. The NRA does not support the true intent of the 2A anymore, which is why I support Gun Owners of America. It's sad to see people so willing to expose their underbellies when it comes to their rights. The 2A is the only thing keeping the "ruling class" (politicians and the extremely wealthy, "Billionaires"-- for you Bernie Bros--from completely running roughshod over all of our God-given rights.

You and I seem to be in the same place with politics, just with different views. I support the second amendment, but yes, it's not my top priority and I certainly support it/view differently than some on both sides. Once again Rat, i genuinely appreciate this sort of discussion so thank you for going a constructive route.
IF the 2A isn't your political top priority, then nothing else is because without it you're essentially powerless to have a voice in politics beyond what your ruling-class slave-masters allow.

I bought my Weatherby when Meateater featured Savage rifles. I wonder if I could send it back and have them wrap it in firstlite instead of the so last summer badlands it currently wears?

In all seriousness that gun is the most accurate hunting rifle I've ever owned.

Why do we as sportsmen need high capacity ( more than 5 rounds) assault rifles,/machine guns high powered military grade assault bolt action sniper rifles (Like GAP) etc with military grade NF etc scopes, and high powered assault hand guns( more than 5 rounds) in our country to hunt? The founding fathers didn't didn't envision every American owning a military grade assault rifle, sniper rifle, machine gun or handgun or possessing a nuclear bomb. The Chernin group who now owns Meateater ( TM) , are opposed to this. They wrote the second amendment for turkey and deer hunters.

peace out

Signed a deep thinking, Meateater fan who lives in an urban environment.
