McMillan Mountain Tracker LR - Tikka T3 Dev Project

Spoke with Varian yesterday. Sounds like most of the hard work on these pre-orders is done. Told me he wouldn't make us a tester for 2 months to ensure pre-orders are fulfilled first. Got to respect it.

When they originally asked the minimum was 100 backers. I have no issue for those that want to contribute. I won’t be one of them as this company has more than enough revenue and margin to cover their R&D projects. I did not state I wouldn’t buy it, however, there are better methods to gain customer loyalty and gauge consumer interest.

I’ll wait for the reviews before I commit.

It isn't like they were going to keep the money if it didn't go forward. All they asked for was a $100 deposit for a spot in the first 50 to be made. I am pretty sure it cost them more than $5000 to make the molds, prototypes, and testing. We weren't "funding" the project. We were making a commitment to buy so that they could move forward and fund it.

@Harvey_NW , @mattminative,

Those are both nice looking stocks! What are their weights? McMillan told me that the painted stock was lighter than the banded carbon but I have read where some people have reported that it is the other way around.

Thanks.
I don't have mine in hand, I had it sent directly to the gunsmith to not waste any time and save on shipping cost. Kind of throwing caution to the wind by building a rifle with a stock I've never even touched, but I like to party :LOL:. That's what McMillan told me when I filled out my order form though was paint is lighter and expected weight was 28-30oz.
