I have the maven and the nx8. The maven would be my pick between the two.with my current discount, all in in the 1k-1.2k range. The ability to hold zero is my number one must. Behind the glass the Zeiss seems superior but not by much. The maven did perfect on drop tests and enjoy the turret and is the cheapest. NF is the tried and true but most expensive, what would you pick out of the three?

right on thanks for your input. have you had any issues with fogging, distortion from heat, ect in poor conditions?I have the maven and the nx8. The maven would be my pick between the two.
I much prefer the reticle and the turrets feel far superior in my small sample size. Glass is a wash in my opinion.
I haven’t had the maven out in any poor conditions to test it. I haven’t had it very long but tracking was dead nuts out to 350 yards. No issues with the nightforce to date.@

Let me know what you think and why!
Maven RS 1.2 vs Zeis LRP vs NF Nx8?
What would be the best bang for your buck? What would you trust most in the mountains?
Glass quality, durability, user friendly, features, price?
great info here thank you! is your NF FFP? The 4x32 has caught my eye, Im currently running 4x15x45 and hitting well out to 1k yards, i just don't hunt past 600. How about clicks, features and throw lever? What felt best to you? Its hard to get my hands on a maven to feel for myself.I own a s3 6-36 and nx8 4-32 and 2.5-20
Have thousands of rounds through the nx8s. The 4-32 has a bit more than the 2-20. Both have never skipped a beat, I’m not nice to them and I trust that in good rings like warne mtn techs or night force it will hold zero.
IMO the 4-32 is best hunting scope made. Killed things at 30yds to 804yds with it, made shots at the bleeding edge of legal light in the morning and night, shot NRL hunter and PRS and it works. The glass just isn’t top tier but it’s good enough to hunt and would buy another if I needed a hunting scope.
The S3, great glass and good field of view, it holds zero. Long term we will see but I have 700ish rounds shot with it and I’m very happy with it. I can shoot at 20-22x and have the same field of view as the nx8 has at 12-16x. I haven’t set them sxs and done a scientific test but I can settle into the s3 on the gun and set the mag and it just naturally ends up at the 18-20x range.
I don’t have and time behind maven scopes, I have been using their binos for years though. They are an awesome company and stand behind their stuff. This forum talks highly of them though.
Of the 2 I know, for hunting I’d get a nx8, my 4-32 with NF rings and bubble level weighs 2lbs 2oz. The s3 6-36 is 39oz and the 4-24 is a few less. So on weight alone the nx8 wins.
