Fair; I don’t know that they were specially building something for durability though. I want the backstory haNot the first try.
The first Maven scope tested was abysmal failure (different model).

“right after LOW finishes the next batch of 3-9 SWFAs”I've asked Maven when these will be back in stock and will post reply here.
I asked them about the bundle re-stock a week and a half ago, and they were quick to respond - and met their timeframe.
We didn’t participate in the design of the RS.1.2. But after the RS.5 failed the drop test. Maven asked a bunch of questions focused on the scopes that passed. I email each company after form does the test, pass or fail. Maven and Zeiss are the only companies to call and ask me questions. Maven by far has had the most communication with me. They also asked what the perfect RS scope is and this is what I sent them.
Long Range Hunter
3-18x44 or 4-16x42
30mm
Zero Stop
Mil
FFP
Simplified THLR Reticle
Exposed Elevation Turret
Capped windage Turret
20-22ish oz
Pass the Rokslide Drop test
Really, really close to what I asked Trijicon to build. Maven listened to you and will likely be rewarded. We didn’t participate in the design of the RS.1.2. But after the RS.5 failed the drop test. Seems like a pretty fast turn to incorporate changes and get released, especially given LOW’s inability to get any SWFA scopes out
Oh, we still need the scope I sent them built!Really, really close to what I asked Trijicon to build. Maven listened to you and will likely be rewarded.
Is it a LOW issue or SWFA issue?
44 hits a bit of a sweet spot in a scopes objective end. Balances light transmission, field of view, mounting options, and weight just about as well as you can.I only need 10x or 12x max and a 40 or 42mm obj. Gets scope closer to 20-22oz for mountain rifle (my interpretation of a mtn rifle anyway).
20-22oz(or less) and 3-12x44 would be moneyI only need 10x or 12x max and a 40 or 42mm obj. Gets scope closer to 20-22oz for mountain rifle (my interpretation of a mtn rifle anyway).
I would not quibble with a 44. Though I’ve had enough scopes optically do all I need at 40-42, so any more is just excess size and weight (for me). SHV 3-10x42, NXS 2.5-10x42, SWFA SS 3-9x42, Burris FFII 3-9x40, VX-3 3-9x40 are ones I’ve used and all work fine in +/-30 min shooting light. I do feel a 36mm is too small.44 hits a bit of a sweet spot in a scopes objective end. Balances light transmission, field of view, mounting options, and weight just about as well as you can.
For me personally, the 12 top end is because a 3-4x erector has better light transmission than a 6x erector and most of my shots are at first/last light. I also don’t need/want 18 on the top end for the distances I shootMaybe next year they can come out with a weight weenie model for you guys. 3-12x42. Personally I don’t mind the extra few ounces![]()
Thanks for solving that part of the mystery, Ryan!Simplified THLR Reticle

Still find it difficult to believe that a few ounces one way or another is such a decision point for some. I don't care to schlep extra weight up the mountain, either, but what's an extra few ounces?Maybe next year they can come out with a weight weenie model for you guys. 3-12x42.
