What kind of speed is usually gained with the 80?

Zero.

That's what I have seen anyways. The difference is the 80's actually have a slightly shorter draw, they keep it from dumping all the way into the valley.

So the little bit of speed that might be gained by the lower letoff is offset by the difference in draw length I assume.

I haven't ever twisted things up to get them at the exact same draw length, so you might see a little difference there, but to take the same bow and just swap mods between 80 and 85 you won't see a difference in speed. I bet most don't notice the difference in DL either, it's not much.

That dump is usually from the 85% mods. The 80% isn't as bad.

Totally agree. It was noticeable enough that I imagine it would still be there with 80%, just less.

The dump would not be what stopped me from buying it.

What’s the pros and cons of 80 vs 85? Mine came factory with 85 but my Mission MXR was 80 and it felt like a smoother draw but it was 3 inches longer ata.

Many states have a maximum 80% letoff.

Some prefer higher, some prefer lower. I tend to shoot a lower letoff better than higher. A lower letoff is more forgiving, the more tension on the string, the less apt it is to be influenced by face pressure, or other factors.

V3x was stiff (not hard to pull just stiff) and dumped a lot at the top of the cam (set to 31.5) but was super well balanced and held very nice. Prefer the draw of my Traverse to this. Hold and stability of V3X won over Traverse. If my draw was a half inch shorter I would have a hard time not getting one.
I had and sold a V3 31- just never shot it as well as my Vertix. The 29 is almost identical in size to my Vertix and balanced much better. The draw cycle I’m used to with the SW cams so it was a no brainer for me, and I ordered one that day. Should be a great shooter.

Shot the prime inline 3 today and the Mathews 33. The new prime felt good, shop tech said it was a harsh draw but I didn’t notice it. I liked the less weight on the ends of the bow and it seemed quieter than my current centergy. It was set up bare with just a whisker biscuit. The Mathews had the qad rest, short Mathews stabilizer, one piece quiver and a spot Hogg fast Eddie dovetail. I thought it was quieter, smooth draw, and I shot it comfortably at about 68lbs when I normally shoot closer to 65. I would have liked to have shot it bare or at least without the heavy sight on it. Both seemed like great options but there was something about that Mathews that I just really liked. The new quiver system really appeals to me being so tucked in and the way the detachable mounts solid but is also removable is cool

@RAPTOR what do you think made the new V3X balance better than the Vertix you have?

Most of the time I find that folks are wishy washy on the balance of new bows, Bc they are so comfortable in their current set up.

Would love to hear more…especially before I go off and buy a used Vertix vs go shoot new V3X 29.

The internal mounting of the sight and rest are balancing the bow a lot better from what I can tell. Mathews tend to be a little top heavy but these new integrated features balance everything out and potentially eliminates the need for a backbar.

Also Hamskea has all but acknowledged they are releasing a new rest that will fit the V3X quiver. It will not be integrated because I believe QAD and Mathews are in contract over that technology but assuming it’s going to be a much more compact Hamskea so there’s some appeal to those who want the new Mathews quiver and limb driven Hamskea. Black Gold is also developing a bracket or dovetail that fits the bridge lock technology. Love or hate Mathews, integrated sights and rests are the future. Elite’s new 2022 EnVision is basically a fully adjustable pressless VXR.

So it was setup with an 8” flatline, low pro quiver, and the new Mathews sight. It legitimately felt 2 pounds lighter than my Vertix. When I held it on target it just sat there…minimal float and didn’t want to roll one way or the other. It was noticeable enough that if the new sight was a 5 pin slider I’d have added it too. I wound up ordering a 29 at 75lbs along with the one piece removable quiver. I already have a spare integrate rest and I’ll likely grab the new dovetail from MBG when it’s done being produced for the bridgelock riser. My Vertix is a shooter and it fits me really well. Hard to really judge off of 20 shots in the pro shop but I think this one is a keeper.

Soooo, What's your conclusion after some time with the V3X 29 over your Vertix? I'm trying REALLY hard not to make the change myself, but.....

The v3xI is stable and dead in hand...more so than others. If that isn't what you want keep your old bow.

It came in a few days ago. I have minimal time with it so far, maybe 80 shots tuning/sighting/refining. I really like it. Way more than my V3 31 and it’s damn close to my Vertix. I’m still waiting for the MBG dovetail for the bridge lock so I can’t comment on that, since I’m just using the standard mount with the low pro quiver. But it’s dead in hand, draw is very similar to my Vertix. It’s a nice shooting bow.
