Matchking X

I don't understand these pessimistic attitudes.

Who pissed in your cheerios?

More options is more better. A matchking with more consistent terminal effect makes sense. (essentially mirroring bergers)

Of course they are going to start with 6.5s and 30s. Maybe they did 270 becuase they saw a big gap in their portfolio in that caliber. Whatever the reason they have to start somewhere.

Id be very interested in a more consistent 25 cal.

SMKs always shot well but unless they step up the BC what's the point?
This one is a hunting bullet, the SMK wasn't and from what I hear, the SMK wasn't reliable for those who did use it for hunting.

I do agree that it's an odd choice of bullet to launch (re-launch?) when tipped bullets are the cool thing these days and they have tipped bullets in both their their target and hunting lines with the TMK and TGK.

I agree its an odd relaunch but don't really concur with the smk not being a good choice for hunting.
I do really think it was dependent upon the caliber and weight class though. The 30 cal 190 SMK, old 142 gr 6.5 SMK and 300 gr 338 cal were used a lot for hunting in various circles over the years. The190 smk out of my first custom rifle chambered in 300 win was one of my absolute favorite hunting combos to date. Myself along with several other friends killed a lot of animals with that combo. Ill probably try some 142 x's out of my 6.5 SAUM for kicks and giggles.
Sierra seems like one of those companies that does everything it can to get you to not be able to spend money with them.
Love the TMK, but you’d be hard pressed to find a company that is worse at innovating and is better at shooting themselves in the foot than Sierra.

I do wish Sierra would get their shit together more. I like their stuff but have migrated away from them over time due to lack of innovation and availability. At this time I only run their 20 cal 39 gr blitzking(total pain in the ass to find) and their 22 cal stuff in various forms.

The promo video on the Sierra website, and youtube

1: Features no useful information or demonstration of the bullet
2: Features a chital stag being shot fairly squarely in the arse

It was one of it seems many Chitals taken. Seems Barnes/Sierra tried to minimise the cost of influencers and send them all together to do promo work. I've seen atleast 3 so far for this and promoting Barnes new ammo range loaded with TGKs but yet there's not good terminal performance Vids.

EDIT: HAHAHAHA watching that video in slow mo shows it pretty clear the hit spine just in front on the rear legs. No wonder there's no entry or exit wounds photos.

SMK were reliable till they started pointing the noses closed. Prior to that they were just open tip match like a Berger.

Sierra cannot stop stepping on their dick. They haven't run 6mm tmk for 3 years, they've moved their production schedule again to where they might not get ran till next year now. They come out with new bullets but refuse to run the bullets people want. Sierra is a shit show. They make 90% their profit margins supplying ammo to DOD/Military contracts around the world with 7.62x51 and 300wm ammo. They don't give a damn about the American consumer.

I like some of the smk bullets but have no interest in these for hunting. Would be a lot cooler if they just made more TMKs or added to that line. Maybe it’s just an easy transition using same equipment as SMKs to make these compared to making more tmks.
