Are Nosler Partitions still relevant ?

They'll outshoot me at ranges I'm capable of reliably hitting at, and they're reliable in doing their jobs. If they hadn't ever existed and then suddenly came out today, especially in a tipped version, they'd storm the hunting world as The Best Thing Ever. But they've been around forever, and are just boringly reliable at this point.

Yeah. I love to tinker.....No need to choose a different bullet, just like to tinker.

What do they do better than a fusion or Norma or really anything else inside the 500?
I’ve said this on here a few times but the Fusion Tipped has really impressed me. IMO it does the same thing as a partition (generally speaking). It fragments, expands super well and penetrates all the way through. I’m not saying it’s on par with the Partition but it’s a damn good bullet. I don’t love shooting bigger magnums as much anymore but my 7 PRC stacks them and hits like Thor’s hammer with those FFTs. Hard to stray away from them and gun.

Partitions open rapidly at very low speeds. I haven't tested lower it but I know they open very well at 1800.

At mid-range velocities the mushrooms get very large. 2D.

Partitions core holds together in very high speeds 3000 ft per second plus at impact the core will stay together.

Yes, you have to deliver the bullet on target and the BC is not the best and it's not match accurate in some rifles. Once it arrives, it is the gold standard.

I'm presently developing loads for use beyond the partitions optimum range. True. But if I think something big might try to kill or eat me or stomp me, I use partitions, or 00 buckshot.

The Partion is to projectiles, what Abraham Lincoln was to presidents.

If the universe had only ever given us partitions, no one would be the lesser for it.

Most shooters believe they need a high BC bullet, because social media says so, yet they rarely if ever kill something past 500y. There are a good number of bullets that try to mimic what the Partition does but fail. While I like to test different bullets designs if I had to choose one bullet it would be the One.

I’ve found Nosler partitions shoot great out of my .243, and their performance on game is incredible- I’ve never failed to get a passthrough and never had anything run more than 50 yards. Admittedly it’s a high- single digit sample size for that cartridge/bullet combo, but I have a ton of faith in it.

Since my longest shot opportunities are generally sub-100 yards, and I don’t practice enough to be proficient past 300 anyway, I feel like partitions don’t give up anything to more modern bullet designs.

Partitions are my go-to example to rebut guys who say they shoot a small caliber “because modern bullets are so much better”. No, you shoot a small caliber because you just learned that they were effective, but the bullets needed to make them effective have existed for a long time
