Last week while we were hunting the frank church in Idaho a guy got crushed in Indian Springs campground. We seen the tree still laying on the tent yesterday, pretty eerie gut feeling seeing that. We were camped down the road from it. We had high winds the first few days that was knocking trees down all around. Supposedly he was from California. If anyone sees a report on it please send a link as I’d like to read up on it. A couple years ago I managed to survive a tree falling on me as I was hunting with my daughter. Her crossbow on my shoulder saved me so hearing about this hits me a little knowing daughter or I was so close to having this happen.

I'd rather not link the news story, but he left behind two small children. Horrible situation all the way around

Understood.
It wasn’t lightening as I was hunting not but a few miles away it was high winds . We had wind and rain the first several days. And it was a close to 3’ across tree that snapped off. The tree was on the tent when we drove past.

I actually saw a huge pine fall about 50 feet away as we were leaving our hunt last week on a perfectly windless afternoon, I think the roots finally rotted through enough to give it up. It was really startling and impressive and really made me second guess about where we parked the tent...

He was from New Berlin Wisconsin. There is an article at Fox 6 news. New to the board and not sure how to PM. Otherwise I would send it. He was a brothers-in-law to a friend of mine.

Shame on all those people in the comments. This family is left fatherless, Imagine if their significant others had to read that after they were dead from a complete accident. It doesn't matter if he is a hunter he is a human. Another awesome example of major news outlet writing stories with anti hunting sentiment, and throwing it to the keyboard warriors for clicks.

Edit: for clarification the comments on the news article... not on here

This is in no way brought up to hurt anyone. Now that I found out where the guy is from I’m now sending money to the go fund me to help is family that’s left behind. Thanks for those that helped

Please share the go fund info to help his family

The posts above are correct. He’s from New Berlin, Wi and had a wife and children.

I live in the same city and after reading the article have many ties to him, which I didn’t know before hand. His kid plays in the same soccer club as mine, and I play soccer in the same adult league as him. I’ve met the man several times without even knowing it. Small world.

So sad. It was a fluke accident, that could not have been predicted.
