Sad deal indeed. I look out for dead limbs in trees before setting a tent up under them, but nothing could have been done in this case.

If you believe in God, as I do, you have to hope that freak accidents like this was a way of saving him from a battle with cancer or something. Only way I can wrap my head around it.

I hope this doesn't come off as being a prick or insensitive , but there are so many options to get life insurance for 2-500k at $40 or less per month. Every time one of these tragedies happen it makes me reflect on the activities I do as a hobby or passion and wonder what would happen to my wife and 3 kids if something happened to me.
I'm not in the insurance industry, just throwing my thoughts out there....

I agree that life insurance is cheap and mandatory if you have a family, but I didn’t see anywhere that stated he didn’t have it besides anti hunter comments from the article.

Are you just assuming this is the case because of the GFM?

Correct, the original GFM goal was only 10k which was reached almost immediately and then then subsequently raised to a 40k goal. I assume most these situations where a GFM is requested that there is no alternative means of money.
