Do those 3 words irk the shit out of anyone other than me? I try to buy things that are Made in the USA, I don't always do it and I know there are some things that I just cant get from anywhere else, but it just chaps my rear end.

Oh yeah we are, instead it's "Made in Malaysia"

Don't fool yourself, only thing the tariffs are doing is costing American companies who manufacture overseas more money. And passing that cost down to the consumer...

Yup, companies don't pay taxes, their customers do.

I do value US manufacturing and US made gear is among the highest quality across the board but the reality is that it just costs too much to pay Americans to make everything. I for one like the fact that American labor is extremely valuable its just not cost effective for most consumer goods.

Although there is a definite case to be made for lowering consumption of cheap goods across the board but that's a decision only the consumer can make after educating himself.

Only took 1-2 posts to turn this political, that’s gotta be some sort of record. I guess it didn’t have much of a chance with the way it started though.

Look up the reasons why most companies manufacture clothing overseas. Between labor, textiles, and technology it makes sense why most choose to go that route.

I share the same sentiment in terms of always trying to buy American. It seems we do have a bit of work still be done though...

Educate yourself on China and evaluate the real risks.Economically and militarily.
Rationalize it however you want but ongoing self delusion by current 'industry' leaders,or most of them, all lead to one result.Sooner than we think.
At least Trump is trying.

Unfortunately this has become the norm. People must interject political tribalism into every conversation.

Everything is political....sticking our heads in the sand only gives temporary comfort...but long term misery.

A guy doesn't have to live politics....but if we all stay engaged our outdoor pursuits will be better for it.

I try to buy American...but it isn't always possible. Supposedly my Tundra has more American made stuff than a Chevy truck....but who knows?

This goes against the typical much pushed corporate model of purchase, use, break, discard and rebuy. Make Americans into non stop consumers, the Walmart way.

Tribalism.Funny.Facts not.For example:
Militarily is even less of a joke.
Fear Russia?Ha.
China?No laughing there.
Ignorance remains bliss.

There was no political undertone in my comment. It’s not about the tariffs, or anything else. Just a simple thought, I don’t like supporting companies that manufacture their product in China.

Yes,and their much needed pork industry in currently suffering from disease issues BUT we are 'nice' and will never use that in trade talks I'm sure. They will need LOTS of pork soon. They'll get it elsewhere I suppose.

Wildstreak I appologize. My bad on the politics in your thread.
If you want,I'll edit mine out.

It wasn’t a slight towards you, it’s just that any time someone mentions the “made in China” issue people immediately jump to political reasons.

USA made vs offshore manufacturing is a very political topic. That's just the way it is. Hate the game not the players.
