Anyone have a Luxe hexpeak or octopeak tent? I'm debating between the two and can't decide if I would need the extra height and room of the octopeak or not. It will mostly be myself and one other person. I plan to use this with a stove when needed. I would like to keep my gear inside the tent as well. If you have the hexpeak, do you wish you would have went bigger? If you have the octopeak, do you feel like you always have too much room with 2 people and gear? I would also like to hear opinions on getting it with or without the snow skirt. Most of my camping will be in the fall. Snowfall is possible. The frequency where I'd actually go out where there is any significant amount of snow on the ground would probably be rare but I suppose possible.

Also, what stove are you using, and with what shelter? Any other reviews or opinions on these shelters are welcome.

Octopeak for sure if your running 2 guys and a stove. Or even just 2 guys and want some room. I had thr hex and sold it. Went to the Oct. Works great. 2 guys, gear, and stove.

I'm assuming that is the Octo in your pics? What stove are you using and how would you rate it?

I agree on the octopeak. I own one and had plenty of room for 2 guys and gear. No stove but am looking to add one before next season.

Just a heads up, another member here alerted me to the deal. On Luxe's website you can buy the Octopeak and get the 4 person inner nest for free right now. I dont see myself using it very often but figured it would be nice to have if the wife travels along or the mosquitoes are bad. I called and talked to Jake as well. Super nice guy and very helpful. It should be here later in the week.

He is a great guy. Have talked to him quite a few times. And they do run awsome deals. I picked up my 4 person inner for 30 bucks this fall on a deal. For the wife car camping

Yes that's the octo. And the lite outdoors 12" stove. I also have the 18". Both stove and tent work really well.
Does the 12” stove do good in the octopeak or do you recommend the 18”? Looking at getting the same setup this year.

12" worked just fine. I did just upgrade to the 18" though. Only for the hopefully little longer burn time is all.

From looking at your pics it looks like you went without the snow skirt. Do you regret that or does it not need it? Talked to the guy from luxe and he said it adds 11oz.

I do regret it. I am actually making my own to add on. It is not a "must", but would help seal up the bottom.

Ok. Thanks. I’ll probably order mine with one then. Probably go with the 18” stove too. Doesn’t add much weight or $$.

I cannot say I have used a seek or kifaru yet. But the zippers are good. I have not had any issues with snagging or roughness. Smooth and easy to open / close

How good are the zippers on those Luxe shelters? How do they compare to the zippers on something like the Seek Outside?

Thanks, Shane

I had an issue with my zipper, I got buried in snow, ice got into the zipper and spread a little as I forced it. I lined the teeth all back up and then pinched it with pliers and have had 0 issue since.

Appreciate the feedback. I've got a couple Seek Outside shelters and I believe they use a #8 YKK on the 6-man tipi, and an even heavier #11 YKK on the 12-man. They are a beefy zipper.

So I was looking hard at the Luxe Octopeak 6P. Looks to be fairly close to the Cimarron in size, but with a lot more perimeter stake loops.

One of my concerns with the Luxe is how beefy/durable are the zippers they use, knowing that is a common point of failure on lots of different gear. I couldn't find any info on Luxe's website, or google-fu.
