LS Wild Suppressor Covers

I’m thinking that scythe gets hotter than my other silencers, at least it seems like it. I sent the burned/stretched one back today for him to look at.

Now I need to figure out how to get all that burned stuff off my silencer. Wondering if I should try heating it up with a torch or maybe just shooting it until it’s hot and trying to get it for then.
MAP gas (the yellow torch not the blue) then wet rag and carefully/vigorously wipe clean with welding gloves on is what I do for melted vet wrap and the like.

No experience with the Scythe though. Wouldn’t want it to blow up or something 😜

Probably a really stupid question but I’ll ask anyways, I know silencers can get hot without being damaged (obviously) so then there should be no risk to torching it for a few seconds with map gas right?

I would not use a torch, just shoot it and use cotton cloth with some surface safe cleaner while hot.

I personally would do this, but as a lawyer and business owner, I do not recommend this because MAP gas burns pretty dang hot.

Perform at your own risk.

So one hides the can with something that will hold in heat, and it makes a mess? I’ll pass.

Do you do anything to mitigate mirage in your suppressor?

FYI, it “made a mess” because he ran it uber hot while shooting 500 rounds over a weekend… that’s way above the purpose and design.

It’s what I’ve done for a long time now to remove melted vet wrap. Never with a titanium unit though.

It was user error, thanks wild are nice, lightweight covers for hunting. If you want one to do more high volume shooting there are better choices. I just wasn’t thinking much about the cover, doing longer shot strings and it happened. Lesson learned, when I’m planning to do stuff like that I’ll use a different cover. For hunting though. I think the LS wild ones are the best.

I went out this morning after some awesome overnight rains. Animals were up and moving in the desert!

I have LS Wild covers on two suppressors currently.

I ripped 30 back to back shots with my 223 on steel targets at various yardages. The cover was very hot touching carefully with maxi flex gloves on. There appears to be no adverse effects on the suppressor or cover. Deadair Nomad 30 can.

I did the same with my 22 Creedmoor and a smaller, full auto rated 6mm can (polonium K). This can was even hotter but posted the same results as the 223.

When I get back from Northern CA next week I’ll continue to try and break them.

Had my suppressor cover on for a mag dump of 5.56 yesterday. Mirage wasn't much of an issue but the stitching on mine has already started to fray and come apart at the end of the cover. Otherwise, I am very happy with the product. It seems to mitigate mirage better than my other, bulkier can covers.

This shouldn’t even be a question. Shooting is obviously the answer. 😂
