One learning. Give someone your onx account and password. I don't know what role it played, but I connected OnX with the family and they connected them with the SO and there was some data provided after forms were filled out. If that data was useful, it would have been quicker if the wife had access to onX.

There’s almost no service in JP desert and that area. I would be surprised if ONX would’ve been able to upload.

It would be cool if OnX had a way to relay current or last reported position for emergencies.

You can get spotty service on Blackstone area and north to the tank area if you get to the high points - buts it is spotty. I Never head out that way without an Inreach for those just in case moments.

I'm fairly confident there was some data transmitted based on my conversation with OnX. I do know they had exchanged some texts while hunting so there was at least some service, but yes it is very spott.y

They do, but it requires a form from LEO or Search

That's great if you're conscious and have all your arms and digits in-tact, sure.
If I remember correct, as long as the inReach is turned on, Garmin can ping it if requested. So, even if you cant push the button, in an event like this, Garmin can ping it to find your location.

Glad to hear all are safe and sound. That is all that really matters.

I have been running satellite on the Iphone15, works great.

Farther south there’s no service.

Someone else made a comment about satellite on the Iphone 15. I wasn't aware any handhelds were on satellite beyond inreach and similar. Not an iphone fan, but that could be a game changer.

It’s a complete game changer, I was texting my wife from the Nevada border a while back and have communicated while hunting while far far away from service with no issues at all. Much faster than inreach in my experience and no monthly costs.

this next update will be huge.

I used it in Colorado where I would have otherwise had no cell service. I've seen mixed things online about it but it worked really well for me
