I unexpectedly got drawn for my first choice Wyoming Unit 26 Rifle Antelope for 9/24-10/14.
I had fewer points than projected to get drawn, so I do not have a deposit with an outfitter.

If any licensed outfitters have open dates, shoot me a DM.

I do not need transportation as I will drive out from Missouri and do not need premium/lodge accommodations but am open to any setup. Have not had much luck getting a response with cold emails but want to make the most of my trip since the unit is dominated by private land. I have hunted out West many times.

I remember when I drew unit 26 as a 2nd choice, that was less than 10 years ago. Sad that one could draw it “unexpectedly” now.

I've hunted a surrounding unit but never been to 26. Just checking OnX there appears to be plenty of BLM and public land to go out there and kill. Im not sure about access to all the roads that take you there, you would have to call BLM or the Game and Fish about those roads.

I wouldn't hesitate to do a DIY with the big chunks of public if it came to that.

This’ll get shut down fast given the unit callout. I’ve hunted 26 on public, much of the public is either landlocked/inaccessible or relies on small herds to wander in from adjacent private. I wouldnt bail if it was a public only hunt, but finding access to some private will give you a LOT more elbow room.

Landlocking is an issue based on all the OnX and local info I have and private land opens more opportunities. I have done DIY on numerous hunts. I’m at the stage in life where paying for private land access makes the trip more worth my time in a narrower window.

I had right on the borderline of what I thought would be enough points and got drawn. I guess pleasantly surprised would be the way I would describe how I felt when I got the notification. Due to point creep I expected it would be next year as you allude.

If you have time, build time in to scout before the season opens. I drew a neighboring unit a few years back and made a special trip just to get a trip to scout. Different than whitetail, I wasn't scouting animals, but more terrain and access. OnX was immensely helpful, but boots on the ground before the season paid off in spades.

Just jump a corner or two;)

I hunted private on that unit quite a bit, was really good but that has been a while ago!

I would hit up some outfitters and see if there are any cancellations!
