Looking for rifle ID from old photo

Good evening,

I was doing some research and came across this picture from Idaho back in 1928. I can't seem to figure out what kind of rifle this gentleman is holding. It looks to be some sort of Enfield or maybe a Mannlicher Carcano variation. I figured someone on here might be able to identify it. What looks to be the bolt handle and the back of the bolt are throwing me off. I might be way off though.

Looks a lot like a Remington model 8, there was an FN version of the same rifle iirc. Browning design

I'm pretty sure you're right. I looking at the browning designs due to the back or the reciever? ( I need to brush up on my parts names) but missed that one.

My guess would be that it was chambered in .300 Savage or 35 remington
