Anybody have experience with a quality everyday carry (EDC) backpack that can be used for approximately 2 days on the road? Preferably something that is a carry-on approved when not packing and without a waist belt.

Thank you in advance.

I'd look hard at the Kifaru Antero 2. I ditched it as an EDC bag because, for my needs, it was too large a bag. It has the ability to use a waist belt but it is optional.

Plenty of room for 2 or 3 days of road gear unless you pack heavy and it was specifically designed to be TSA compliant

What are you wanting to carry?
Rough idea on size of the pack?

Check out AER packs.
When traveling, a few days worth of clothes and other essentials. I'm looking for a balance between something that you can use daily, two days traveling and concealing a FA while in town.

I am a big fan of evergoods. Especially if you need something that blends in to the urban office environment reasonably well. I use the civic half zip for EDC. The CTB 26 is definitely better suited for one bag travel.

I’m looking pretty hard at the Nemo vantage in either a 30L or 40L.

However that stone glacier pack looks good too for the same price

Goruck without external molle. I have one of the smaller packs for work and really like it. Laptop, weapons, essentials easily fit for me. I’m not sure about the bigger bags- 2 days but it’s worth a look.

Check out eberlestock, they have several that can carry a folding stock or short rifle.

Nomadic Research has a pack designed for this as well.

If you want top of the line, red oxx C Ruck is where its at.

The red oxx stuff i have (Air Boss and the briefcase) is 10 years old and looks brand new. Its excellent quality and well thought out gear.

2nd on Evergoods - extremely high build quality and materials. Would not mess with hunting brands for EDC; rather would look at companies that focus on that space. (AER, Belroy, Evergoods, etc). My wife uses a Cotopaxi backpack to do one bag trips and it works fairly well, but it’s not something I’d ever take to meet with a client or when I care what image I present.

As someone who travels every week, I second the recommendation for AER! They are incredible designs for work and look sharp enough to take into any meeting. The City Pak 2 and City Pack Pro 2 are the “gold standard” for business travel.

My favorite is the Kifaru Shapecharge. Belt is removeable but throw it back on when you want to use it. Lots of ways to add a pouch here and there. And just configured in a way that is real useable for my needs with good organization.
