looking for feedback on waterproof backpacks

How are you using it or what are you looking to carry? Might consider a cheaper roll top dry bag with backpack straps. I have one from Amazon for fishing, works fine.

Alaska guy here, I have watershed dry bags. Milsurp ones are affordable on eBay, bombproof bags with the ability to inflate/deflate them after they’re sealed up. I have two of their backpacks and a rifle dry bag. Been using em in southeast Alaska for 4 years now.

What are you needing the waterproof bag for? Are you making like a blind bag?

If you are looking for something completely waterproof Barney's makes one that I believe is Waterproof and Wrangell Gear Company. But they are going to be expensive - these are frame pack designs.

Are you hauling decoys? Or what is the primary consideration? I waterfowl hunted in Juneau, AK on the wetlands in a quintessential rainforest and just looking to wrap my head around use.

Though your Ketchikan guy is from the only rainier place I know of then Juneau - @Andrewdk

I’m in a similar situation. I usually run and gun in the marsh. Carry 6-10 decoys and one or two spreaders. I can’t decide a comfy decoy bag or a fancy carry all. I also have an old hiking backpack that I’m thinking of just spray painting camo or get a camo cover for it. Here’s some bags I’ve looked at. I definitely want to be able to carry a gun in my setup.

I’ve had great luck with Patagonia Guide series. Taken all over Montana/idaho/alaska/virgin islands. No leaks.

Cheaper and slightly less submersible waterproof but good for 98%

Does your whole kit attach to this bag? How many decoys? Do you keep the decoys in the bag? Carrying your gun?

Another option is Sage Brush Dry Gear, I have had their day tripper pack for close to 20 years and it's still in great shape and works great. Not a cheap option, but a small business based out of Alaska, the website says they offer repairs, though I have never needed to send it in. It's also great for winter steelhead.

If you don't have to have a backpack, take a look at this blind bag. Has been the only one I have ever owned that the inside stays completely dry, and is what I run 90% of the time, other than the bag above when we don't take a boat or decoy cart.

EDIT: looks like they went to a new outer material, so not sure how waterproof the new version is. The older version was made out of a raincoat-like material and was non-absorbent.

I use the Dive Bomb roll top as well. My only gripe is that there are no dividers inside. It's hard to locate things while I'm in the blind. They make a messenger bag style version with dividers and compartments that I'll eventually upgrade to.

I use Watershed bags. The Colorado model is the size I use for waterfowl hunting. It will float along with you as you make your way to the blind. I actually use mine as a seat in the blind as it is buoyont enough to support me and my gear.

I have one of these I'd sell. Mine is the darker colored one.
