Been hunting elk, deer, and pronghorn in Colorado since 2018 but my only hunting and fishing buddy, my brother, is back in our home state of Indiana. Being a Licensed Professional Counselor whose office is in Boulder, CO, I haven't ran into any local hunters as obsessed as I! And all the fishermen are trout focused, but I'm more of a walleye and lake trout guy. I hunt rifle and just picked up muzzleloader last year. Working to get my very young daughters into the outdoors the way my dad did. Grateful for this site and enjoy contributing how I can. This year I want to improve my muzzleloader game, improvisational mountain shooting skills, and patterning deer movements in response to pressure in my home unit. And this is the year of my first Dusky Grouse. I can feel it.

Welcome from NW CO!

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new CO member.

Welcome from Erie! I'll be picking up the muzzleloader this year as well and putting some miles on the boots around our area. If you ever need a hand, let me know.

Aw shoo! Did you grab the muzzleloader tag I was expecting but failed to land this year?! Doe in 29?

Welcome Dusky. I’m a muzzleloader Hunter as well and live in south west Longmont. I have a 6 mile trail within walking distance. If you have a free evening and want to do a training hike, hit me up. I also have experience in a unit you mentioned but rarely hunt it.

Welcome from Fort Collins. I'm in pretty much the same boat, been hunting here mostly solo since 2018ish, most my main hunting buddies are all back in WI. I'll be hunting the local units around me this year, let me now if you ever want to tag along or go look for grouse.

I'll have to hit you guys up later this summer! I'm currently in walleye and lake trout hunt mode but will be switching gears in a few weeks to gear up and train for the fall hunts. Primary draw wasn't kind to me so I'm looking forward to the secondary plus WY draw results.

What lakes do you usually fish for walleye? Do you have a boat or shore fishing?

Union a lot. Boyd some. Boulder some. Boat.
Nice! I'm stuck in a cycle of wanting to buy a boat because that's how I prefer to fish but don't buy one because I rarely fish because I don't have a boat which is how I prefer to fish 😂

Also a new guy in the nearby area. I shoot traditional muzzleloader regular at a local club and shoot anyway except from a bench. Hit me up.
Those grouse can be tricky. I thought last year was going to be mine, but only saw them when I wasn't looking for them.
If you're bored and curious there's an annual match on the 8th of this month in Fort Lupton. Pretty kid friendly if you want to bring them. It's listed as the Big Bore (54cal and up)shoot on the Colorado state muzzleloader site.

I was on Granby yesterday, but thanks for the invite. I don't have a muzzleloader tag this year but perhaps later this year we can get on a range. I go to Great Guns in Nunn for annual double check on my rifle zero. Could double that up with some ML time. I saw that grouse live their whole life in one acre or so of land but haven't fact checked that, but if it's right a grouse should very near where we flushed them out even a year ago... if we can see them.

What did you fish for, when you had a boat?
I grew up fishing mostly bass and walleye along with some northerns and musky in Wisconsin. Never had a boat out here because all the fisherman I know are fly guys.
