I had no idea who this Rodger guy was until today but disappointed to see this video trending on social media. Boosting about walking in bergers at lethargic impact velocities on an 80” mule deer at 1,312 yards is wild..

He’s claiming years of competitive shooting and practice allows him to do this. Is this the mindset in the NRL crowd generally? What are y’all’s views on the video and long range ethics in general? What are your limits and why?

There’s a certain distance where “hunting” has left the equation. I’m exactly not sure where that is, but I know it’s not anywhere close to 1300 yards.

I think in most instances it's not much past 5-600 yards. If you can stand up and walk around, talk at near normal volumes, etc. it's pretty obvious the game doesn't have a reasonable chance of detecting you, ie not fair chase. Instances where you can "walk-in" shots is also obviously not.
