Hey there

I'm asking this question for my son who's new into archery. I don't archery hunt(yet) so I'm no help. He's looking for recommendations on brand of arrows to use for an upcoming hunt this year. He can use between 30-31 inch arrows and likes Carbon Express but not sure what other brands he should consider.
Thanks for any help.

I honestly think you are asking Ford vs Chevy question. With that said I truly believe you can not go wrong with Easton, GoldTip and or Black Eagle. I have shot all 3 and happened to robin hood a BE today :D

What's his draw length? Is he shooting traditional or compound? What draw weight bow? I shoot 30" arrows and have a 32 1/2" draw length.

Shoot i cant remember his draw length off hand. I wanna say its 31-32 he's got long arms being 6'5. It is a compound bow and 70lbs draw weight.

I have been using Gold Tip for years but brand isn't nearly as important as getting the proper spine for what ever arrow you shoot. For any particular brand I always go with straightness Tolerance of .003 or better, usually I use the .001's.

That's why I was asking. Lots of good brands of arrows, but when you start needing a stiffer arrow than a .300 there are certain arrows I gravitate to. The Easton Axis .260 spine is a good arrow, as are the Black Eagle Rampage 250's. I shoot some Gold Tip Kinetic 200's as well. I have a brand new dozen of the BE Rampage 250's all made up and pretty by Jerry at South Shore Archery if he might be interested.

When ever I have any serious questions about arrows, I call Jerry at South Shore Archery. An encyclopedia of knowledge.

I like the Axis too...the smaller diameter is less impacted by wind and penetrates better. The 10.3gpi gives em plenty of punch.

Not on the Axis, but on the Full Metal Jacket, which is the same micro diameter. The FMJ is made up of a carbon core and aluminum outer, which can be bent. Bending will generally be a by product of the arrow being pulled out of the target at weird angles.
