my favorite backcountry rear rests are snow, sand and a puffy (synthetic is preferred). in a pinch ill use just my fist or my pack if i'm already on a bipod up front and not using the pack there.

So I have one of these recommended Thunderbird clear bags with get light fill. Just got back from the range. This thing seems way under filled. I can’t get it high enough to be useful unless I turn the thing vertically, which defeats the purpose of the cradle design. It just feels like it needs more filling. Yet there is no port or zipper or any way that I can see to add more. Did I get a dud?

Mine was a bit under filled I felt as well, it was offered to send it in for more fill which I just havnt gotten around to, as it just sits clipped on my backyard varmint gun. Part of the reason I like the pint sized game changer more, the updated version also has a fill port.

Don’t read too much into the cradle of the bag. The beauty in the bags you can use as a front and rear rest is it’s more versatile. As long as you can use your hand to comfortably make the fill solid it dosnt matter what way it’s oriented. Iv used mine every which way.

Edit, if it’s waxed canvas you need to beat the crap out of the thing till it loosens up as well.
