I'm in the market for lightweight, synthetic, puffy pants. I'm aware of mountain hardware compressor pants. Are these the ticket or is there anything else worthy of consideration? Anything better, lighter, cheaper,? Don't need camo of these will likely be worn underneath an outer pant. Thanks.

I picked up a set of puffy pants made by Sitka along with a kelvin lite jacket in steel gray for $150, shippedfrom eBay. I've worn them a handful of times to sleep in and am quite pleased with them so far.

Montbell has a few different options. They have some 3/4 length that are intriguing. I have a synthetic pair with full length zippers that weighs 12 oz.

Justin those where probably from me and my buddy. Itsonsale? we have still have a bunch of Kelvin Pants depending on your size. If interested let me know.

I wouldnt say the Kelvin Pants are ultralight but they are managable and fill in space in your pack. I have a pair also they are super warm. They are my go to insulation for anything cold weather.

I had the Kuiu Super Down jacket and pants. I sold the jacket 2 years ago and picked up a like new albeit used, GoLite Bitteroot jacket and it was good move.

I kept the Super Down pants and have been really happy with them.

OK, thanks. I've got Sitka Kelvins already. Was looking for something a little lighter and more packable. Still not a down fan, especially for a goat hunt in AK's coastal mountains, which is the main purpose for these pants.

Like the looks of the Montbell UL Thermawrap pants. thanks for that suggestion. I've had great luck with Montbell stuff in the past. A

Anybody else?

Patagonia Micro Puff pants are great. Not very quiet but warm and light. Probably eBay only though. Though Patagonia has a few current options as well.

The Montbell full zip pants are good. They can be found cheap, and are warm and light, but are much bulkier than down of course. I think they are probably warmer and a little bulkier than the Patagonia Micro Puffs, but I have never compared them side by side.

I run Feathered Friends full zip down pants. Great pants, and lightweight. I wouldn't own a pair if they didn't have the full leg zip.

I was literally just saying to myself how I wish Fl made puffy pants like their coat. They would be awesome.

Cabela's has a hybrid pant in their instinct line. Sort of depends on your intended use, but they seem like an option where one can wear them and still be mobile in cool to cold weather. I've been debating a pair for moose camp....

Details Here:
Hunts beyond the timberline require the ability to adapt, at a moment's notice, to changing temperatures. Extremely lightweight and highly compressible, Cabela's Instinct Backcountry Hybrid Pants combine exceptional warmth and uninhibited mobility for precise thermal regulation during such hunts. When activity levels rise and the temperature is moderate, shed this insulating layer, compress and stow it in your pack until you need it again. Its smooth nylon shell is water-resistant and slides quietly over other layers. 90/10 polyester/spandex stretch panels allow enhanced mobility for traversing treacherous hunting areas. We've incorporated two different weights of polyester PrimaLoft® Sport insulation – 100-gram in core areas for maximum heat retention and 80-gram in the knees for low-bulk mobility. 100% polyester-tricot lining won't snag on base layers and makes on and off easy. Zippered fly and hand pockets. Imported.
