Got the continental and a Riley Bullet. Should be here before Thanksgiving, which is good cause we do an extended family camp for Thanksgiving down in SC. Last year, my SO Cimarron blew off across the hay field during a rain storm while we were in it. Good thing my wife was a Spartan in a former life. Learned a lot about good knots after that…

I see you found a solution, but for anyone else who might search this thread in the future, give "reliable" tents a look. They are out of billings MT I think. I have a 10x10 canvas with 30in walls. It takes 2 poles.. one at the door and one in the center. Then it uses 4 small corner poles. I think the whole setup with poles is around 38lbs. They make an 8x8 as well

Mine is a Teton 10x10 with the shorter walls. I think they are 30in or so. Perfect for 2 guys and a stove. Knico packer or Alaskan stove is money in there

Sweet! Definitely do the initial burn before you go out. Mine had what looked like a bunch of sealant or glue or something fizzle out of seams and burn off.

I think it’s pretty straight. When the stove is hot, it does get a little tougher to open, but I think that’s just the metal expanding.

Do you think that 4-people and a stove could fit in the 12x12 with 4’ walls? I’m not sure if cots would be used or not. Thanks for the information.

I would think it would work. Not a lot of extra room for activities/ cooking table or anything like that thought.
Having never used a stove like, It looks like it’s big enough to heat a tent that size. Probably not going to cook you out if it’s real cold though

Yeah, I have also considered a 16’ bell style canvas tent. It would be more room for sure but it also weighs more. I like the fact that one person can set it up with no problem and it doesn’t take long to do it.

I won’t be going back to a larger tent unless circumstances change. I can set up/tear down in 10min no problem. And it’s so compact and easy to haul. I can get my tent,stove and a big cooler and gear in a subi outback if needed.
