Lightweight Camping setup?

Another issues with hammocks for backpack hunting is the bulk of the underquilt in addition to the top quilt. At this point in my life, I struggle more with volume than weight. Beyond that, I would love to hammock camp. It looks fun!

The volume sucks, but for the rocky ground in the southwest, it is hard to beat.

Guys, thank you for all the input. I have decided to go with a tarp, and use my current sleeping pad and bag.

I normally use a hammock but bring a sleeping pad with me in case I'd rather sleep on the ground. I'm a side sleeper and haven't had any issues yet with getting great nights of sleep in my warbonnet XLC

To update this thread, I bought a used Seek Outside Silvertip. I have not received it yet. But I will update again after I try it.

Final update. I got the Seek Outside Silvertip, and after trying it out, I think I made a good decision going this route versus a hammock. There is room for two men in this tarp tipi, but it would be tight with two packs inside. It is perfect for one man and gear. I will probably never need to run a wood stove in it, but it does have that option.
