Anyone tried out the pants from Stio? I was looking at them but they never have what I want in stock. Bob.

I have the stio hardscrabble and they are similar to the Kuiu guide pants so not really light weight. They fit ok, a little tight in the legs but not horrible or uncomfortable. Quality is good and they use Toray fabric.

Dotman , they don't have the hardscrabble pants anymore. I'm not sure how close the crestor pants are that they have now.

Just wanted to add a +1 for Luke's suggestion of the Columbia Arubas. I picked up a pair based on his suggestion and they are awesome. Extremely light and breathable and they dry quick.

Its a little noisy but the REI Venturi pant has been awesome this year. Used it deer hunting in the Rubies and now elk hunting outside Vegas and they have been solid. I can't believe I have not ripped a hole in them on the brush. Fabric is very strong but thin. Best part is I got them on sale for $55ish.

kuiu attack pants, light, uber comfy, breath well and dry quick.
I like everything about the Attack pants, BUT the front pockets. I wear a clip knife in my front pocket every day. It just does not work with the Attack pants. I lost a knife twice trying to force it. Once for good and the other time a buddy behind me found my knife clipped to the branch that picked my pocket! : )

My favorite cargo style outdoor pants are made by Vertx. I use them for day trips and fishing, but they are not synthetic enough to wear hunting or on overnight trips. (35% Cotton)
The Phantom LT pants are a nice pant. I wore them in a 3 day combat handgun course in WA State in some pretty darn hot weather. Held up well and breathed pretty decent. I've begged them a few times to make a fully synthetic DWR coated pant.
I'd going to try a pair of the Phantom OPS lightweight pants the next time I make an order. If you search around you can find 20-40% coupon codes now and then, just takes a bit of digging.

I replaced all of my "Dockers" with the original Vertx pant earlier this year when I found a 40% off code. The pockets are perfect, in fact designed to carry a clip knife and the cargo pockets have a small inner pocket that helps organize the crap I throw in there. Wallet, keys, phone, you name it.

And for you Kryptek fans, they rock the various Kryptek patterns for an upcharge. ;)

Check em out.

I'd consider it a favor if you also requested some fully synthetic pants from them. : ) I sent an email to KUIU requesting they change up the front pockets to mimic these pants, but I am sure design changes come from folks other than me. : ) I did pick up a pair of the Kanab pants to try out, but they are certainly not in the flyweight lightweight, more like the medium lightweight category. They seem like pretty decent pants as well.

For cheap, quick drying though its hard to beat the Columbia's Luke mentions. I'm not sure of the exact model name, but if you search places like Sierra Trading Post or REI Outlet there is usually a synthetic hiking pant of some sort at a pretty good price. I've not noticed to much of a difference between the few I have used over the years. They are not the most durable pants, but cheap and simple.

I purchased the Prana Zion stretch from REI, didn't like them. Good stretch, just a tad to athletic cut for me. Cargo pocket is too tight for much. I then found myself looking at the OR Ferrosi pants then found Kuhl clothing. I ordered the Kuhl Renegade - http://kuhl.com/kuhl/mens/pants/renegade-pant/ Pants should arrive early next week. I think with the stretch, cargo pockets, these might be a good pair.

Kuhl! These are AWESOME pants! The Rapr is the hiking pant I use most now. Has 5% spandex so it stretches when hiking steep slopes. Love them!! They also make a "convertible " Rapr too if you want the shorts option

awesome pant!! my one friend had them on a 50 miler..we were all envious. this is a good looking pant. he had the convertibles. i like these the best because they dont balloon out at the leg zipper giving you that goofy look. the pant drapes regular...nice to look good as well.

my friend didnt choose the best color (light bluish gray) for a 11 day trip. haha. he looked filthy most of the time.

the KUIU tiburon is a good idea. pricey..but awesome for a pair of pants to do double duty. gotta love a multitasker..they would be good for early california archery season.

Whats your go to backpacking pant? Legs that unzip at the knee would be nice. Royal Robbins? Mountain Hardware? ExOfficio? Etc?

Light and durable(lol), dependable zippers?

Thanks Guys

Maybe not what you are looking for, but by far the most SUL, comfortable, versatile, and durable ways to go. Oh and cheap to boot...

Board shorts, for me kick ass in combo with full length gaiters. My AO I have to wear them anyway. If it's late season put on merino long underwear underneath. They'll dry quick if wet and can spray them with dwr. The freedom of movement is the real sell for me.

I used to use cut down kuiu attacks 3/4 and full gaiters

Arc'teryx rampart 3/4 are the next best but cost WAY more then simple board shorts. And as mentioned that MH kilt, I've seen guys here use it too backpacking around the Whistler hippie trails :)

I'll use my mountain bike riding shorts if you need massive durability and they work excellent if needed, not UL, but far better than hunting brand pants
