Is there any cheap alternatives for this? Old school wool mittens come to mind, but maybe we can do better?

They could be gloves, mittens or whatever. Just good warmth to weight for the money.

Thanks!

Are you talking real cold, or maybe just possible archery season cold? For archery season I have some jersey style gloves like the normal ones I use, but they have 40gm of Thinsulate in them. They work great for that purpose. I can't even remember where I got them, but have had them probably 10 years and they were cheap enough that I picked up two pair.

I am thinking something for when its about 20 or so. I'm picturing some cheap down or primaloft mittens or something. Doesn't have to be camo or hunting related at all. Just no electric blue please.

I've been using a pair of lite weight head brand with touch screen pads and gel type grip from Costco and they've been fine for those temps. Even used them on a hunt with a couple inches in the hills, climbing over a bunch of blow down on side hills having to grab snow covered branches etc and they weren't really wet til the end of the day.
Textured grip was handy for carrying a rifle as well.
Prob 10-12$

Yea - these Head gloves are good. The Sitka traverse gloves are great too and can be found for around 25 bucks.

For bow season I wear Manzella. I think it's called Ranger model.

For colder weather I use Kinco Alyeska rag wool either the gloves or glommit. Available from amazon under $15 last I checked. The lining on these gloves tops every other rag wool glove for comfort and warmth.
