Life span of gore tex

I was wondering how long gore tex rain gear is good for?i have a set that's around seven years old and was wondering how long until I must buy more. It's still in good shape and was waterproof last fall.

The 2 things that I've had render GoreTex useless are dirt and saltwater.

Debris gets in the pores and gives water a path to "wick" through the fabric. You can use a Goretex "wash" and it will help extend the life. If your gear is still waterproof, it's still good.

Sitka told me to wash and use the dryer when it was no longer waterproof. They also said to retreat the dwr about every 15 washes.

My rain gear is waterproof still. I was wondering if I should be putting back money to buy new rainy gear next year. Do any of you have gore tex that is older than mine and still waterproof?hopefully it will last many years.

I used my Cabelas MT050 rain gear for 10 years. Still waterproof. Just treated the DWR every couple years. It never leaked.
