I want to get some backup/extra batteries for my AceBeam and Sofirn headlamps. I’m wanting to get an 18650 for the Sofirn and a 21700 for the AceBeam. I was going to order from 18650batterystore.com (https://www.18650batterystore.com/) but Im confused as to which ones to order ? There are different continuous discharge Amp rates, and button top vs non button top, protected vs unprotected…. I’m confused
I’ve attached pics of my existing batteries for reference IMG_9292.jpegIMG_9290.jpegIMG_9289.jpegIMG_9288.jpeg

I'm fairly certain that sofrin lights have built-in protection from over/under charging, so you should be just fine using unprotected cells, but I suggest buying them from reputable brands/sellers.

The internet tells me that they will take either flat or button-top, and It looks like the battery that came with it is a button top..

These are two of my favorite batteries.. the first one is a button top. The second is flat.

I don't know anything about Acebeam lights or 21700 batteries, and it looks like orbtronic only carries one button-top, but it looks like it would work!

thanks!
I’m assuming orbtronic is good to go when ordering from online? ( no issues with ordering or shipping?)

Sofirn sells batteries directly on their site, and they seem to be pretty competitively priced. Not sure about their quality, but would expect them to fit their lamps properly.

I use that Acebeam battery in my H30 is that what yours is going in? For protected 21700s I use these. Flat tops work fine in a H30 but I still use protected cells because they fit more snug in that light. For unprotected cells I use Bak 21700cgs or vapcell f56s.
Li ion wholesale protected 21700s
The Nitecore protected 21700s also have worked well and Nitecore sells these cool battery holders

For 18650s I use Samsung 35Es for stuff like the Sofirn or if you want something a little higher amp rating and capacity something like the vapcell f38 would work.

The amp rating for these lights doesn’t matter too much, neither are going to push the capacity of the 21700 or 18650 they spec’d. In my mind, cells with more than 10A drain are for high drain items like some enthusiast output lights, emisar, noctigon, imalent etc. neither of these lights should pull more than 5A. For high drain cells if you should ever need one, the molicell lower capacity versions like the p28A (18650) and p42A (21700) are great and reasonably priced.

Regarding flat tops and button tops and protection, some lights have mechanical lockouts on the battery cap threads that activate one like a single turn. So the length of the cell is very important. Additionally some lights don’t have electrical protection internal to the light so they recommend protected cells.

Sorry for the wall of text TLDR get those li ion 21700s I linked and some Samsung 35Es.
