Lever Action anyone?

My very first gun in 79' was a little single shot 410, but shortly after my dad gave me his 94' 30-30. That same year I shot a bear out of a tree with it. Shot that gun exclusively for 4ish years, before I got my first bolt action (old Rem 721 06'), but being hound hunters, I continued to use the 30-30 for bear. LOVE that gun. It has sat idle for decades and my dads Big Bore 94 in 375 Winchester now sits idle next to it. Really need to break them out and shoot a little bit. Those two guns put bullets in a LOT of bears... a few lions and a few deer!

Now, the BLR and the Henry Long Ranger are calling, in 223! Really loveing both of those. Also loving the looks and feel of the new S&W!

I know it’s not traditional. But I already have traditional. I’ve been eying the new Henry Hush SPD in 30-30. Most of my mountain hunting gives me shots of much less than 100yds.
I already have a 50’s waffle top marlin in 30-30 and a JM marlin Stainless with custom synthetic stocks. But I can’t suppress those.

First lever gun kill 45LC
Love those pistol caliber straight grip Henry rifles. This is one of many use cases where I wish Trijicon would make their AccuPoint 1-4 or 1-6 a 1” tube. A 30mm on a rifle that is that narrow feels weird to me. And it’s got to be mounted very low with the drop on those stocks. Great pic and thanks for sharing. Love the big loop, too!

I'd probably go with a Marlin SBL and save a few hundred but I can't argue with you. That Henry is a pretty cool concept.

Joined the club and picked up a Ruger Marlin 336 Trapper in .30-30 recently, first lever gun. Got it to the range but it's shooting insanely high at 100 yards, nearly 12" high in fact, with Leverevolution 160's.

Anyone else experienced similar with their Ruger Marlin 336 Trappers? Three of us shot it off the lead sled and all got the same result, doesn't seem the peep can be adjusted further down from the factory to correct it.

Not sure where to go from here besides contacting the factory.

Peepsight doesnt screw down?

Why do you need a lead sled to shoot a 30-30?
It does not, seems to be bottomed out from the factory.

Off-hand even at 50 it was shooting absurdly high, so we tried to remove as many human error elements/variables as possible and dial it in.

Interesting. I woulda thought you would have some room there.

Front sights are cheap. Toss a taller one on there

You should be able to find a taller front sight post. If not you could do what a bunch of heathens do and put an optic on her.

That is a Skinner sight on your rifle. The peep can be screwed down be loosening a Allen head set screw. Unless it's already screwed all the way down. That's one of Skinners bear buster front sights. If the peep is bottomed out you should be able to get a taller front sight.
