Lever Action anyone?

Any of you hunting with these suppressed? Are the irons tall enough to see over a Supressor?

LGS won’t let me put a can on one but they seem too low.

The Marlin Skinner/XS sights are tall enough to provide a good sight picture over the AB Raptor on the muzzle of mine. No red dot required, but it is a nice accessory, as is an LVPO.

Roughly how much sight picture does it have? My reaper is fairly girthy at 1.8” but maybe that extra .1” wouldn’t matter.

Yes I am using one as you describe. A Henry in 357 mag. No, I cannot see through the can. The top 1/3rd of the brass bead is all that’s over the can. I use a 6 o’clock hold. I’ve shot water bottles consistently out to about 110 yards. Shot the doe just a touch over that. It was pretty cool seeing most of the deer above the sight picture. 10/10 would recommend. As noted by others, subsonic loads through it makes the person shooting giggle. Hunting loads sound like a 22lr unsuppressed.

I was lucky enough to fill my NH buck tag again this year with my first production run 1895 guide gun in 45-70 with XS sights

The front sight blade on the Skinner or XS setups is pretty tall. Good sight picture with mine.

Thanks! Now to track down the 30/30 I want.
End goal will be optic with QD mount and the ability to swap to irons as needed. Looks like the skinner sights may be the ticket

I’d look real hard at a Marlin 336 Trapper or SBL in .30-30. It has everything you need and the new Ruger guns are very well made.

My Henry all-weather 45-70 is a gentle push with factory ammo...that thing kicks worse than a 12 gauge with 3" slugs with hot AA1680 loads and 300gr hammers.

Makes blood trails a blind man could follow.

Unfortunately purchased prior to the release of the X, or i would have an X and a big ole can on it.

my first lever action was a Red Ryder BB gun 50 years ago! Picked up a cheap Rossi .22 lever action and had it threaded a couple years ago. I've killed a bunch of squirrels with it and it's stupid quiet with CCI sub-sonics and accurate.

Liked the little Rossi so much I picked up a Rossi R95 30-30 about a month ago. It's no Marlin or Winchester but it's a beautiful rifle and fit n finish is very good. I would love to leave it scopeless however, at 60 years old, a scope makes sense and will also afford me some low light advantages. Can't wait to climb a tree with it.
