I've taken as many deer with my WInchester 94 in 30-30 as any other gun I own. I also have a Rossi R92 in .357 that I have suppressed. Planning on hunting raccoons and maybe some short range deer with it (like out of an archery stand).

I have a 100 year old Winchester 94, 25-35 that was bored out to a 30-30. I've killed some dogs and a doe with it, my kids have missed some animals with it as well. I normally have it as a truck gun, it's pretty fun to carry around, some day I'd like to dedicate a hunt to it. I hunt with a muzzle loader most years which is pretty similar as far as accuracy and range and is pretty fun.

Savage M99 with rotary magazine in .284 Win and Marlin 1895SS 45/70.

The spelling should be "Leupold" not "Is it all Leopold". Didn't have the heart to mention that with the fair share of dissension I've contributed in that one, lol.

35Whelen,

I wondered about that, seriously.
As for the dynamic nature of some of these threads, I am retiring from middle school teaching, off and on over the years. The spirited nature of some of the Rokslide conversations only is matched by debates on bow tip widths or fletching size in the trad/primitive bow forums. Middle Schoolers often seem tame in comparison.

Isn't it the law that you must own a model 94 or 336? Mine is a 94 carbine with a Williams peep sight. A Savage 99 in 358 is off getting a new stock fitted, and my Marlin 444S is in the safe ready to go. Also have a Browning BL22 and an Ithaca lever in 22WMR.

I have the Chiappa whildlands 1892 in 44 mag. It's such a cool gun. I've taken it pig hunting but nothing else so far.
I run a red dot on it.

After reading the thread "is it all leopolds", part of me is tempted to just get a lever gun, iron sight-hunt close

Gotta be careful dude. Guy I know missed a large whitetail still hunting a patch of timber last week because his rear peep was loose and he didn't notice it til he drew down on his guy 😂

I'll be out with a 336 in .30-30 which is honestly one of my favorite rifles. Something nice about a rifle that's "point and shoot" through the entire range you'd ever use it, and .30-30 is the perfect tool for Florida whitetails... similarly satisfying to eyeballing the right size socket for a bolt first try. Also of note, this setup has worn the same Leupold 1-4 for the last decade, which has cycled through probably 5 or 6 different loads without any noticeable zero issues. Admittedly it's an easy use case to fulfill firing a few rounds a year at 100 yards and in, but maybe that's not such a bad thing.

I hunt hogs with a marlin 1894 I had converted to 500 jrh. I have a bunch of other lever guns, but it sees the most use.

I love lever guns. I should hunt with them more than I do.
