Hi all. I put an offer locally on a used Wetherby Vanguard Series II in 223. This is going to be a coyote gun, to be used in the woods in Massachusetts. I doubt I will ever have a shot longer than 75 yards. I would love to, but just not going to happen. I am looking for a decent, yet affordable scope. I have a Leupold VX 3i 3x9 on my tikka 308. I am very please with the glass. So I figured a VX Freedom 3x9, may be a nice compromise for this gun. I should add that this gun will make its way out permanently to Montana in less than a year, probably for the same purpose.

I am looking for some experience and feedback, as well as any recommendations for other options if you guys think I am wrong about my choice.

Thank you

Pete

I had one on a muzzleloader that had to be sent back it wouldn’t hold zero. A 223 will be way less than a muzzleloader as far as recoil though. In that price range you might want to look at swfa fixed power 6x if you can find one.

Earlier in the spring Midway had a sale on these and I picked one up for a Ruger Ranch in 223 that I use a truck gun. Nothing fancy and gets bounced around the truck a lot and the scope and rifle are still hitting where I aim. Didn’t want to spend a lot of this rifle/scope and seems to be working well and reducing the abuse my nicer 204 was enduring.
