Let’s Talk Watches

Unbelievable for the money imo.

BN0261-51E Is the model number for anyone interested.

They finally slimmed down the beloved promaster line and added a saphhire crystal. 5 digit Rolex case proportion, c3 super lume, and the movement is the goat for solar.

The bracelet is fine but clearly on the lower end, 99 percent of guys won’t tell or matter too. 60 click bezel instead of 120.

For 300 bucks idk if their is another diver on the market that can compare with everything this has for the price. Crazy but this is much nicer then my 5 digit Rolex sub by a mile and cost 300-450 bucks compared to 8-12k for what 5 digits are going for. Crazy.

She’s made her way into my rotation which doesn’t come easy lol. Keeper for sure.

I got a vaer s3 on the way to run through the paces as well for a field watch, stay tuned!

Those Seiko 5s look great. Post a picture when you get it

I’ve always loved the simplicity of a black face with basic numerals (used to drool and dream over the Luminox series when I was a kid and we’d go to the mall.)

There’s good deals to be had on the 5 (Jomashop, eBay, etc.), but I ultimately went directly through Seiko for slightly more peace of mind.

Seems to be a lot of knowledgable people here on watches. I've always wanted a nicer watch at some point but never really cared for Rolex. I've always liked the look of several Breitling models though. Are they any good? Any particular models stand out? Things/options to look for? Thanks.

Been around for 140 years. The older stuff was better imo. Company was sold about 10 years ago to a pe firm….you know how that goes. They sell watches from 3-4k to almost 100k. Modern day, very big and loud Jewery imo.

The 1950-2010 stuff is solid imo. Pick you’re flavor and buy used, secondary on them is great since they don’t hold value well which is awesome buying used!

@bowhuntercoop How did I miss the 114270 being offered?!

The Explorer, especially in 36mm, has such a great form factor to it. Being able to slide under layers and gloves easily is a huge plus over a diver. I'd love to own one some day.

Outside of the Explorer, I believe the Pelagos 39 is as ideal as a Swiss tool watch can be. This one has already been on one sheep hunt, with many more adventures to come.

Amazing watches both the explorer and pelagos.

I’ve come to terms over the years I much prefer a date haha. Idk how many time I look at my watch for a date and when I wear the explorer I just laugh.

Really hoping at watches and wonders Tudor steps their game up and release a pelagos or bb54 with a date.

If they slim down the black bay pro that would be contender as well. I much prefer 40 mm and under, and this 41mm citizen wears like a true 40. I’m liking it for a dive watch. 11.5 thick so a touch smaller then a pelagos, super comfy and wearable. Very 5 digit Rolex case feel with the bullet proof e168 eco.

I have one explorer left but it’s going in the safe for the boy. He can wear, sell it, whatever but it’s his. I want watches with a date but not a fan of cyclops lol. First world problems.

A Pelagos 39 GMT w/ date would be 🔥

Bb58 is about the best watch you can get in the 4-5k range that feels like a Rolex.
Ginault smokes it for 1/3 of the retail price and is much higher quality and finishes stand out. Love me some Tudors, their colors are horrendous for the most part though.

The best watch they currently make is the Ranger 36.

My main gripe is the 750 service cost through a Rolex service center for them, yet they don’t service the movements. They replace em, they are throw away movements. Makes you question what they use making them and long term ownership. This is for the current stuff using in house movements btw.

Used Tudors are the way to go, most sell at 40-60 percent off retail on the secondary. Great watches at those prices.

I disagree with almost every point you make

This. A pelagos FXD without a date is like tits on a bull. The black bay pro opalite needs a diet of like 3mm to get to Explorer proportions.

nah. Can’t be a true topside tool watch without a date. Full stop.

That’s fine. Colors are super subjective.

Can’t disagree with their in house movements and being non serviceable or the fact their values drop like rocks the second you leave the ad.

They are fantastic watches, and yet so are a ton of micro and homage brands, much better imo when you get into the nitty gritty of making of the watch and materials used.

Rolex as I’ve said before are super over priced, all marketing compared to a bunch of other makers, but the name is recognizable.

They literally make 2 watches currently that I would even remotely think about buying, and I’ve already owned one of them lol.

They haven’t made great pure tool watches in like 20 years.

That’s the amazing thing about the watch world, plenty of flavors for eveyones style and taste!

Just wish my Pelagos had drilled lugs. Think all tool watches should have them.

Man, I like my Garmin Instinct but it is clear there is a different language being spoken here that I cannot even begin to comprehend. Sentences like this don't even give me hope that I could figure it out with Google! It's like I wandering into a hunting forum without any knowledge about rifles.
