Let’s Talk Watches

I'm pretty new to nicer watches so don't depend on my opinions. I just ordered one from Aragon that supposedly uses a Seiko movement and Sapphire crystal. I was looking at the Orient, Addiesdive, Seiko.

Jomashop carries a lot of different ones

Anyone have any insight into Vaer watches?

They have some designs similar to other watches called out as well as good price points.

Ya, I ordered one, sent it back, ordered another and that process took months. Their customer service is horrendous. Overall, the watch worked fine, but nothing compared to a Citizen or Seiko or hamilton (in that same price range).

I like this one:

And this one:

Last cruise we went on, we went to a bourbon tasting and watch lecture. That was pretty interesting.
Cruise ship jewelry shops are a big deal, they give crazy discounts to get you to buy stuff. My mom retired from Sterling. They own all the major chain jewelry shops. The mark up on some jewelry can approach 75%.
This ships store had a couple old Rolex watches to check out. I think on I tried in was 50k!
There’s a British brand that takes specific materials and the produces the watches. One line had aluminum from a WW 2 British fighter plane used for the case. Another had tires from a specific jaguars tires for the bands.
I have a citizen eco drive that was my dad’s.
My smart watch is an amazfit t rex 3
Bought a luminox on that cruise.
Few other decent “couple hundred dollar” watches

Personally I hate jewelry and anything flashy. I won a Rolex many years ago and it's been sitting in the safe ever since. My daily watch is the same as my hunting/outdoors watch. A simple Casio Twin Sensor SGW 100B. It has a compass that actually works and is very accurate, a good illumination system, and keeps time good enough for me. It's about 3 seconds fast during a month time frame. I have a Victorinox, another Casio and a few other watches. I always end up back with the Casio Twin Sensor.

What is it? Taking offers.

For those who are watch collectors, enthusiastic, etc.

What are some of the best watches under $200 to look for? I know that’s sort of a low price point but that’s where I’m at.

I’m especially interested in dive watches and field watches. Compass watches are also of interest.

Under $200 is a tough range… get a g-shock or a Casio. Save a bit and get a Seiko King Turtle or a bit more and get a Sangin. You likely won’t regret saving for a good watch!

Haha. Proving you're not showing off by showing off some more.
I mean huge difference between a daily 10k Rolex and 75k patek. The watch world is wild, Rolex isn’t even considered expensive or luxury compared to patek and the other custom makers.

I bought that watch at retail and kept it for less the a year since it was so expensive. Sold it during the Covid hype for almost 100k and funned some other pieces and some custom stick bows. Wasn’t 100 percent my style but I would never pass the chance up to buy one at retail from the ad.

Some guys a 200 dollar g shock is expensive, and some of my friends literlely wear their pateks and Mille’s everyday and don’t even bat an eye wearing 50-200k plus watches. Everyone’s situation is different.

Wear what you like, not what other people like.
