Lets talk trimmers

I have the Hornady. Super easy to adjust, and you don't have to hold the brass with your fingers. Not super familiar with the other options, but I doubt they could be any better.
I've waited on the sidelines prepping to purchase a premium trimmer for several years now, any reason NOT to purchase the Hornady unit?

The only reason I can think of was mentioned above, claims that they ripped it off from the (I think) Henderson. I don't care about that and the value delivered to customers by Hornady wins imo. I think I got mine for $550 and that's with all the pilots needed.

Primary reason is trimming, chamfering, and deburing are in 3 steps rather than 1 if i'm not mistaken. Seems like a nice option if you're ok with taking significantly longer than a 3-in-1 setup.
I'd not trim altogether before I ever went back to 3 separate steps

Hornady didn’t steal anything. They improved on a couple of flaws with the Henderson.

One being belt drive vs direct drive on the Hornady. The other being the addition of micrometer adjustment instead of some hokey bolt and nut design to adjust length where you have no idea how much adjustment you are making.

I say this as a Henderson owner.

I would like to get the Hornady 3 in 1 or a Henderson.

But I load in small batches so when its time to trim, a Little Crow WFT works just fine for me. It produces consistent results and cuts fine. I keep one chucked up into my Milwaukee drill and can trim the brass I need to load in no time.

Ive always preferred the lee case length gauges. Impossible to mess up and I put the case holder in a cordless drill. Makes for quick trimming and chamfering.
That's what I use too.

I won't say I prefer it. I'll just say that when I can get a complete trimming setup for ~$20 and add other calibers for an additional $8 or less, that's what I'm doing. I'm cheap. And best I can tell the Lee stuff works fine. I try to shoot most brass maybe 5x, trim, anneal, shoot 5x more, discard.

All I have to say us WOW! This 3 in 1 Hornady is the bee's knees. Set up took 5 minutes and it cuts and chamfers in less than 5 seconds. Very simple and easily repeated. I am mad at myself for waiting so long to try it. Trimming and chamferring is no longer a task I loathe.
If anyone is on the fence, I recommend it.

Hornady stole it outright. The two machines side by side are close twins. Yes, Hornady made a couple of differences, but they stole the rest. I agree that the Henderson adjustment wasn't good, but come on my friend. The intellectual theft is blatantly obvious.
