Edit- I need to read better.Guys who have cut their 22 inch barrels down to 16-17 inches about how much weight can I expect to lose?
For factory lite barrels I think it's 1-1.5 oz per inch depending on caliber.Guys who have cut their 22 inch barrels down to 16-17 inches about how much weight can I expect to lose?
That is pretty light. What do you figure that barrel weight was? Was there a reason you went echo instead of bravo? My first time putting a rifle together after many years of buying custom or barreled actions. Got a used 300wsm T3X action, a lightly used 20" 6.5PRC PBB prefit, KRG Echo on black friday, trigger spring, Area419 20moa rail and an HCA tikka mag. 9lbs 9oz with suppressor attached. Going to go shoot it today.

I don't know about the barrel weight, I think it was the tikka hybrid contour plus the fluting and only being 20" its not too heavy. The Echo is lighter than the Bravo and accepts tikka mags. That is pretty light. What do you figure that barrel weight was? Was there a reason you went echo instead of bravo?
Ben I have a bare 18.5” tikka I can weigh for you when I get home later on this week. It’s not 16-17” but It’ll give you a decent idea I think.Guys who have cut their 22 inch barrels down to 16-17 inches about how much weight can I expect to lose?

Just got it back today. Tikka T3X re-barreled to 6.5 PRC with an IBI Mountain Lite barrel (IBI is local to me). Bead blasted and fluted bolt. The olive drab vertical grip and wide fore end came with the donor, not sure if it will stay. May try a Rokstock when they get back in stock.
What's the point of weighing a rifle with no bolt or mag?@IBen

5# 11.9oz
That’s with no bolt or mag
ETA, no, that’s not drugs on the scale. My wife is a sourdough fanatic and there’s flour everywhere.
Corlane rebarreled it. Actually, they called me yesterday, my Tikka rebarelled with the .35 Whelen custom barrel I had on Ruger MKII is ready and should be in the mail on Monday. It received a similar treatment, bead blasted to match and a fluted bolt.great realisation. well done. who did the rebarreling?

Sounds cool. What's with the enlarged bottom metal?I like modern rifles in classic chambering. There was a guy on CGN who built a .358 Norma with a stainless Winchester M70 and B&C stock.thank you. im waiting my tikka stainless 9.3x62 left hand from Paul Cook in Alberta. it will come with rem 700 open sights and boyds laminate stock, with enlarged bottom steel. i will post it here as well.
the only reason is when using gloves for bison hunting the original bottom is a little too small for my hands ...Sounds cool.
