-Tikka Roughtech in 6.5cm Chopped to 20”and threaded. (4lbs 11oz)
-Mesa precision Altitude stock (32oz)
-Glades bolt hand and knob
-Talley lightweight low rings (2.5oz)
-Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x50 (25.7oz)

Weighs 8lbs 8oz. Could shave off some more weight with a Stockys and a smaller scope.

I have basically an identical setup, except in 6.5 PRC and I love it. I wanted a to shave some weight on another build so I built a 6 CM last winter with a Stockys and I don’t like it nearly as much as the Mesa/Pure Precision stock. Gun feels very front heavy and I don’t like that at all.

After this weekend, I have the same thoughts on the Stockys. I have a VG2 in a 700. Didn’t pay much attention to the the balance because I took a factory stock off and swapped immediately. Ended up selling that gun and had the stock laying around. This weekend my brother put together his new Impact and tried the Stockys on the gun. He didn’t like it and mentioned how front heavy it was. He ended up grabbing an AG Alpine Hunter, the balance was really nice and didn’t feel front heavy at all.

Just got this action rebarreled from a 25 saum to a 25x7prc. Twisted barrels did the chamber(@T_Widdy )
22" #4 mcgowan 7.5 twist fluted at Kampfeld Customs.

Waiting on some dies from redding to show up

How do you like that huxwerx? They're interesting for sure... Just expensive
The ventum is a steel case with titanium core so it’s a little cheaper, about 1200 all in. It’s my first can and the only can I’ve really been around so I’m not sure how it compares sound wise. It’s as quiet as I need it to be and from the little bit of info I could find it should be hearing safe. The flow through seems to work well I’ve shot it on my ar without an adjustable gas block and it functions fine and no gas to the face.

Finally feel like I can contribute to this thread:
-Started as a 7mmrm superlite
-Swooped a SS 7rm ($100 tikka takeoffs go crazy) and had it cut down to 20” and threaded 1/2-28
-Mc Game Warden 2.0
-NX8 4-32 in NF rings w/ top ring level
-Q Trash Panda (I am filled with regret)
-Atlas CAL tall (love the usability hate the weight)

Shoots great with factory 162g ELDX. A bit of a bear to tote, hoping to put it on a diet but not sure where to cut weight without sacrificing shootabilty. Considering following the Rokslide trend and moving down to some flavor of 6.5
Open to any critique

What weight are you currently sitting at?
I am working on a project that is eerily similar to this and want to stay light, but functional with minimal recoil. I know compared to your setup, my optic is around 9 ounces lighter. But, I am not sure I would change too much else - maybe the can for a brake until I get a Ti can, and then no bipod (using my trekking poles).

Appreciate any insight.

Great build man! How do you like the Scythe? I keep eyeing it at Scheels.

Looks awesome! I'm having a similar setup put together (18" 6CM). Is that a T3 action?

Any chance you could cover yeh process for getting one?
Difficult importation from Canada, I ended up using an expediter.
When they (7 of them) arrived to my chosen FFL, they were in somewhat rough condition and the left handed stock needed to be manually ... left handeded. Whether or not this was communicated ahead of time is up for debate, and I don't wish any ill to the business. Once in the states, finding a smith up for the challenge of finishing was arduous, settled on LRI after 2 false starts. LRI was unable or unwilling to do a number of fairly standard things such as installing flush cups and Spartan adapters due to what Chad described as the flimsiest interior stock construction he'd seen.

All that aside - it's extremely light, it shoots phenomenally well for a swept grip stock, and it produces tight groups indicative of a quality product. How much of that credit should go to LRI for the inlet/bedding - probably a lot. It's a good enough result that if it was made in a straight grip I'd probably go through the hassle all over again. Alas, I've moved to more modern stock ergonomics. It seems like the version of this stock that is a similar amount of hassle but superior ergonomics is the CF Echelon.

Appreciate the detailed response. For the hassle I’ll just grab a heavier McMillan.
