Just got a Stockys VG2 vertical grip stock in. This painted one has much improved grip over the really slick naked carbon one I had previously. Spent a little time this weekend inletting the stock for a Grayboe CTR AICS dbm. Sits a wee bit proud , but I don't care. I'll take this over the factory dbm every day.

For those interested, this is a 22" 6mm creed, with a dupe of the factory barrel.

6.5 Sherman max 20” barrel, Mesa precision stock, preferred barrel blank prefit straight taper 0.75”. 6.2lbs as pictured

How’s that barrel shooting, thinking about ordering a 20” .75 taperless in 6cm.

Did you weigh the barrel before screwing it on?

Is that bead blasted finish? Looks great.

Have only shot it 1 time to check function. Did not weigh the barrel before screwing it on but with it being fluted it felt very similar to the factory light barrel I pulled off. Yep that’s bead blast finish

That bead blast looks great. My McGowan bead blast is much duller and wants to rust. More of a rough sand blast.

After having to send back a McGowan prefit for short headspace I’m looking at Preferred and PVA. For my next pre-fit, any advice? Is the PVA worth an extra $200? I really don’t want to monkey with having to send it back.

Looking at a 24” 6.5cm .850” taperless or med Palma for a NRL hunter open heavy and PRS type gun (looking for about 4-5lbs finished barrel) in a Bravo and a 6cm 18-20” lite or .750” taperless for a suppressed hunting rig in an XLR magnesium.

*Update*
I ordered a 24” .90” taperless from preferred that was instock. I’ll let y’all know how it shoots in about a month.

Damn that’s a sweet setup. How are you liking that Privateer stock so far and who did you order through if you don’t mind me asking? Looking for an option other than OMR . . .
The privateer fits me really well and is a well but stock if your using a >45mm objective in sportsmatch rings. A 50mm on a pic rail and the cheek weld isn't there and you'll need to build up a stock pack ( the tikka cheek rest fits)
Honestly if I was using a big scope I'd use a tikka stock with vertical grip and cheek riser.
I got most of my privateers from here or direct from ag composites when you could call and order.
Omr isn't bad since he's not doing any gunsmithing on it, they drop ship from ag composites.

Have a Tikka T3x roughtech in 300 win mag on order. Sold my CA Ridgeline in 300 PRC, after 500 rounds through it, lots of handloads, time, money, and even sending it back, it was consistently inconsistent. My brother has a Tikka T3x lite in 300 WM that I handload Nosler 180 Accubonds, it drives tacks and has thumped many deer and elk. It's pretty sad when an $800 Tikka will out perform a $2200 CA. I'm on the right track now, and this thread reassures it! Will post pics as I make progress on my semi custom build!

I’ve seen this happen about 6 times now…will never see my money in a few certain brands hands

Totally agree! I should’ve known better after talking to several of my friends about CA. I have a Tikka on order if I want, but have been looking at the seekins havak elements before I make my decision. I know I can’t go wrong with a Tikka, but just making sure I do all my homework first.

Looks nice! What was the weight on the German stock? I've always wanted one but they were all heavy. Also wondering if you opted for the longer shank or standard on your barrel.

I don’t recall the weight on the stock itself but the build weight as pictured is 10.2 lbs. I went with the standard length shank per Carbon Six’s recommendation.

Put 100rds through the Preferred barrel this morning, no break in just 10x 10 shot groups as fast as I as felt comfortable with the barrel heat.

Very happy with how it’s shooting with a load I just threw together in some old Hornady brass.

Went from 2730fps to 2760fps. I think I can expect a little more speed up over the next 100rds.

Last 10 rd group:
